Myranda is able to change her shape at will, shifting from beast to human in a tornado of claws and fangs that has left many enemies battered and bloody. Her feral abilities have only grown stronger since her relationship with Marcus. Together, they expertly stalk the wilds of Malifaux, drawing animals to them when they have need.
Myranda helps friendly Beasts by boosting their Df, healing them, and making them take actions. She also has a decent melee attack that delivers Poison, giving her some synergy with other models that deal with Poison, and an impressive Df of 7. Her best trick is that she can transform into another Beast, which gives her a great deal of flexibility. Myranda is a great addition to any list with a few Beasts in it.
Being the personal bodyguard to Viktor Ramos and his top people is dangerous work, and Joss is perfectly suited for the task. Back on Earth, he spent years guarding his tribe against the encroaching Guild. Now that he is in Malifaux, he is fiercely loyal to Ramos in his fight against the Guild. Wielding an arc axe and a pneumatic arm in place of the one that was viciously ripped from his body, Joss is a fearsome opponent to any who would do his employer and friend harm.
Joss doesn’t care about his opponents’ defenses. His melee attack ignores most defensive abilities in the game (including defensive Triggers) and has very consistent damage. He is very tough to take down generally, and his “Hard to Kill” ability ensures he will get one extra activation. Joss can hack through any problem.
Cassandra was once Colette’s greatest rival, but now she is her closest friend. Her shows always draw huge crowds, and she is arguably the biggest celebrity in Malifaux, possibly even out-doing Colette herself. She is skilled with a sword and fearless, often leading the Showgirls on their smuggling runs for the Arcanists. More than anything, she is fiercely protective of her good friend, Colette.
On the table, Cassandra is a scalpel. She is highly mobile, with “Nimble” giving her an extra Walk action every turn, and she can dart in and out of combat, applying her Dancer’s Saber where it is needed. With her “Understudy” action, she can copy spells from friendly models, including Colette, which makes her highly versatile. Finally, her “Southern Hospitality” action can make her incredibly hard to hit for the rest of the turn, so if she is in danger she may need to activate early. Cassandra is an excellent addition to any crew.
Snow Storm is the result of the Tyrant December’s attempt to take control of his vessel, Rasputina, who redirected the power into a Silent One. The power manifested into a giant wendigo named Storm. The affected Silent One, Snow, has grown ever closer to Storm with each passing day. Together the two have achieved a certain level of independence from the cult.
Snow Storm is a big, expensive melee model. It provides protection to its crew from shooting attacks, and it is good at repositioning other Frozen Heart models, which is excellent in a Rasputina crew that can otherwise be relatively static. Snow Storm is very mobile, and deadly once it reaches combat. It is good in any crew that expects to face ranged attacks and always a good option for Rasputina.
The Captain is an enigma; no one knows his true name or even where he got the rank of Captain. Some say he once piloted an airship; others say he was in charge of a ship during the Powder Wars; still others claim he was a member of the elite Breach Expeditionary forces. What is known is that he is loud and boisterous, loves telling a good story, and is an expert with his hammer.
The Captain is excellent at repositioning other models. His “Airburst” action can be used to get friendly models further up-field or to put enemy models in unfortunate locations. If enemy models get too close, he can Push them all away with “Eye of the Storm” or simply leave combat as his “Agile” ability makes him immune to disengaging strikes. On top of all this, he has good defense and an amazing melee attack in the form of a Relic Hammer. The Captain is a great model for any crew.
Arsonist, lunatic, and criminal are all words that have been used to describe the man only known as The Firestarter, but he knows his true nature. He is an artist, an artist who whips dancing flames into dazzling works that can never be repeated. Every ruined building left in his wake is a testament to his art. The Arcanists find him useful; after all, some buildings need to be burned.
The Firestarter adds some great utility to Kaeris, Mei Feng, or any crew that uses Burning. He gains VP for any models that are killed near him by the Burning Condition, he can easily add Burning to multiple models at once, and he can increase the damage caused by Burning. With The Firestarter, incineration is the name of the game, and he works well for any crew that shares his philosophy.
