What's the best Virus Protection Software?

Alrighty, looking for virus protection software. What's the best one out there that doesn't eat up system resources?

Norton is a pig on resources, good, but a pig.

Norton takes over your computer! It may protect you from viruses, but it makes you pull out your hair and want to throw the computer out the window.

F-Secure is better, but not great. Makes the computer slow in start-up, for instance.

We're trying out Panda at work. It seems to work well.

Oh, and Matty... Macs are the new arena for hackers. I've read that the number of viruses for Macs have increased quite a bit the last year.

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action.

I can second that. It's a good one, it's free und if you want additional features, it's cheap to upgrade. Using it for years now and had never problems.

I'll second the use of AVG not being to bad on the resources end.

I'll third the use of AVG. Been using it for years and only once had a problem (that was incurred by someone else).

AVG has effectively handled every virus I have ever downloaded while "testing" software.
