So, something with, say, a 6 walk 2SS minion that also counts as a Corpse counter(like the mindless undead) something to let you draw a card, or look at the first card or 2 on your deck, and maybe a ranged attack, would be what you are looking for.

Sounds like the Watcher to me, which exists but is a Construct.

Honestly, I don't think Leveticus needs a special model to summon the Waif -- the Canine Remains is basically perfect for it (if it didn't have H2W it would be).

I'd rather have a Unique Waif that I can pay extra for, that has all the same rules, essentially, but has something like (+1) Nimble. That would allow you to hire the Waif in at some cost, and have a slightly better recurring Waif.

That is, as long as we're creating new models here. As it stands, I'd really just rather make the Waif hire-able (without giving it a SS cost for things like Slaughter).

I'm just mulling over ideas. Tactically, it makes sense to hire and kill a canine remains.

Thematically, it's not bad, but it seems a little weird that he hires an undead dog just to turn her into a pretty soulless girl.

    Outcast Model

    6 SS "Ma Dunder" Soulless

    Wk/Cg 4/-
    Wp 7
    Ca 6 mask
    Df 3
    Wd 3

    Abilities:
    Harmless
    Shambling
    Slow to Die
Matron in Waiting: When this model dies, summon a Hollow Waif into base contact before removing the model. No other model may be summoned as a result of this model dying.

    Actions:
    (0) Kill Ma Dunder

    Spells:
    (1) Tap Soul
CC: 10 crow Rst: Wp Rg: 6
Target's controller discards 1 control card.

    (1) Open the Maw
    CC: 16 mask Rst: - Rg: -
This spell may only be cast as a slow to die action.
Place a 50 mm "Maw of Despair" marker in base contact with this model. At the start of each activation phase, flip a card. If the card is a crow or tome, place one steampunk abomination in base contact with the Maw of Despair.

Fluff: Elise Dunder was a beautiful young bride when she first met the wily Leviticus. She was seduced by him which eventually lead to an affair well after her marriage. Little did she know that Leviticus was courting her not to be his mate, but simply to be another Hollow Waif. She left her husband and now her transformation is nearly complete - she only awaits the final step...death. Leviticus has been using her to carry another of his rather ingenious discoveries, the Statue of Maw. This statue, when the correct rites are spoken above it, opens a pit of darkness leading to damnation. And from this pit pours forth the steampunk abominations of Leviticus' past.

Game Feel Notes: Trying to give Leviticus a nice, fluffy, mid range SS model that will also allow him to generate the second Hollow Waif easily - thus eliminating the need to always take a canine remains. BUT taking canine remains is still viable due to SS cost. In return for higher cost, model has a nifty trick (alternate means of slow steampunk abomination generation)

You might be able to argue that it should be 1ss, but I don't think that's necessary.
That could work. It recognises the cost but avoids the need for silly Turn 1 actions to kill the dog and turn it into a waif if that was the only reason you took it in the first place.

A few people have pointed out that the Chompy nerf only delays the Levi blitz for a Turn or two as it reduces the range of the drop, but not the overall ability to dump a number of potent melee minions within the limited radius of the waifs.

Going back to my earlier questions, is it the consensus that Levi generally does need the second waif, but is considered powerful enough that the 2ss charge is not excessive?

How many people plan to create a waif from an enemy minion and are regularly able to do so?

I'd be very surprised if this wasn't the consensus. He needs a second Waif for a variety of reasons, and 2ss is not too much to ask. If played well, I feel Leveticus easily carries more than his own weight in a crew.

I never plan on doing this. Too many models aren't living, the 3Wd cost can be brutal at certain times, it makes Leveticus more vulnerable, it slows Leveticus down, and it forces certain actions with your crew. Overall, I make my second Waif with a Canine Remains unless I'm just playing around. But if I have any desire to win, I make the second Waif.

Thematically, just buy a Malifaux Child, and play it as a proxy Canine Remains.

That way the poor girl gets some use.

    (hell, I might do that...)
