Raspy was my first box set. It started out as a love/hate relationship with her but I've grown to appreciate what she can do and have learned to build crews around her that fills in the gaps of what she can't do as well.

One of the things I love about Rasputina is that my crew's core is usually pretty standard: Essence, Silent One, two Gamin, 4 stones to fill the cache. That's 20 stones, which can be adjusted accordingly based on the circumstances.

As Boardgameguy said, 'Tina's strengths are pretty self-explanatory, so it's easier to then focus on handling her shortcomings (speed, a reliable secondary threat to keep the heat off 'Tina, objective runners).

Larger games I'll use Snowstorm, a third Gamin, a Convict Gunslinger (don't own Gunsmiths yet) or even Taelor (though once the Blessed hits this will likely be less common).

Desperate Mercs - Run up to something, Tina then blows them away to drop blasts on the enemy. If you can sneak in a turn of 'For My Family' shots on the way up, even better.

I've been running 30 point games to try her out using a friends crew while I figure out what exactly I want. This list seems to work awesomely, but I also am new with her -

    - Essence of power 2ss
    -Snowstorm 11ss
    -Blessed of December 8 ss
    -2 ice Gamin 8 ss

I'm used to smaller crews, (colette was my first crew), so this worked out for me. Move the Gamin, Snow storm, and Rasputina in a 4-5 inch block, using all of snowstorms abilities to maneuver 1st turn so he's in front (great if fighting no magic crews or minions), the Gamin ready to dash in to slow and smack around the opponent while now Raspy is poised in the middle with some protection. I've found that second or third turn she can drop a pile of ice on someone who thought she was behind a wall until you frozen-heart pull her with snowstorm. Meanwhile, your blessed sort of ventures out on it's own to grab an objective, pick off a sniper style unit your opponent has, or their objective grabber. If it comes to shove, save a 5 of masks for that turn when the blessed can leap into whatever fray you need it at... Or out.

If you want to run a slightly slower crew and have more models, you take out snow storm and replace it with a 3rd Gamin and a silent one.

    Hope this helps!

Minor clarification: you can not "Leap" out of combat.

I hear this on a podcast a while ago; (not sure who, but I recall a brittish accent). But it was about Guild and said "Range is a trap"

And there is a lot of truth to that; range doesn't stop people from completing objectives, it doesn't lock people in place, it honestly does nothing untill the model dies. So if you spend AP wounding models you are gaining 0 points & preventing nothing, it is only kills that count.

Rasputina fals into this trap as well, her spells can arc and get range boosts making her amazing at shotting stuff very far away. This is great, except that it means she isn't moving as well as locking the arcnode & other buffs in place.

This is part of why people love snowstorm as it can drag her meaning you now have a mobile gun platform. My problem with snowstorm is that it is really expensive as a buff piece, and I really don't want to clump ~25-30 points in 3"x3" (assuming masters are ~15). I've also seen it die soooooooooooo fast.

So when you start playing her you'll find that at the end of the game you are out of position, and this is because you didn't move at the beginning of the game. So if you want to get better with her try and play her more agressive than you are comfortable with. You'll lose, but you'll learn and figure out how you can still get to where she needs to be on time while not mitigating her ability to contribute.

This is also why neverborn is "easy" w/o guns you tend to discover you are already in position by the time you start worrying about the end of the game. When starting any system it is easy to forget about strategies that require positioning untill it is too late.

I absolutely agree with your points on ranged being a trap, but having a ranged piece as powerful as raspy, who can more readily assure her kills unlike say... a gunsmith who is very luck driven and tends to plink more than pound. Also ranged pieces I've found tend to be more fragile and her special abilities tend to aid her quite well in protecting her between arcing spells and ice walls and bear armor. With her abilties in mind I do however believe her crew needs to compliment her skill set rather than mimic tho, Which in my mind means speed and melee. Blessed and snowstorm are good pieces (but i imagine tough to fit in small games) so im still pondering what smaller pieces to fit around her to best compliment her.

    builder and card stacks

There is a list builder somewhere?

....wow...just found it.....didn't even know there was a Malifaux page

Why can't Raspy+Arcane add two cards to your MAX hand size?

.....wait.....it has the same name.....can't benefit twice from same name am I right?

Yes, except for Armor, buffs with the same name do not stack.

2 abilities with the same name don't stack; unless the ability specifically sais it stacks.

Pretty safe bet for any game system you play or may play in the future.

with armor; multiple copies of "Armor +x" stack, multiple instances of the same ability that grant "Armor +x" do not.
