Got the von Schill Box but what s next?
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum and to Malifaux. Just got myself the von Schill Box and wanted to spend some more money, but I didn't find anything that fitted this crew thematically. The Freikorps crew seems so complete and as there are no alternate Freikorpsman, I can't get more of them too.
Happy if anyone has any good ideas what would fit in this crew fluffwise / thematicaly / from the look.
Thanks,
RF

Bad news is, he is a little bit limited when leading a crew because he is a henchman but off the top of my head I think convict gunsliger, desperate merc, Johan would fit in quite well and also Killjoy if you want to have some fun and I think he can take student of conflict or malifuax child as totems.
Good news is, he's a henchman so you can (with a few exceptions) take him and his troops with the next master you buy.

The Viks work well with Von Schill and really benefit from the Librarian. Some players play them as the Henchman to Von Schill who is generally more resilient.
I'd work my way down the following list, allowing 2 completely separate lists which have some overlap (not something you get much with Outcasts).
Viks (alternates)
Ronin
Taelor
Convict Gunslinger (Miss Demeanor ideally)
Desperate Merc
Student of Conflict

As for fluff/theme, that is whatever you make it.

I use Ronin a lot with Von Schill. They are an all-round great model and fit very well into his crew. Other models that I find work well are Taelor, Desperate Mercenary, and Misaki.
And all of those models work well with the Victorias' crew (and so does Von Schill) - so it ends up working out pretty well and you flesh out two crews.

It really doesn't matter. All that other stuff is just a distraction, all you need is Von Schill.

I run a viks list with von schill as the henchman, so I normally take with those two a trapper or specialist (depending on opponants crew) and a convict gunslinger with some ronin.
But if you'd like to run von schill as your leader, consider, getting taelor (for constructs) ronin, convict gunslinger (to use your mask cards on trigger happy) and a student of conflict.
The student will likely only give fast to von schill once, at the start of the game before he flies off, but works great giving fast to your trapper or specialist in the following turns.Last edited by Heartsbane; 06-21-2012 at 08:28 PM.
The Viks in a nutshell - "I hit you for RawR! damage." "How much damage is that?"
"How much health do you have?... That much damage."

Also, Hamelin (the mercenary version) offers you a fair bit of board control/manipulation, which is nice, and about the most subtle model VS can take, and profits from the Librarians ability to give other models
on their Castings
