Kirai changes in errata
Well, 1 big change and a small but interesting one. The Shikome doesn't come out with a prey anymore, which means summoning them is definitely not as attractive anymore except for scenario purposes and the Ikirio and Onryos become our default summons for summony shenanigans. It also makes you wonder if starting with two shikome right of the bat is the way to go now.
The small but nice change is that avatar kirai does the damage it should have always done now, being a 3/4/6 and this makes her beatdown endgame with her avatar form a lot more compelling. I'm one of those guys that has always been pro avatar because I like having options, but do people feel more compelled now to bring her aboard seeing how she becomes the most hard hitting in a single strike we can get without depending on triggers? I mean, with a decently planned turn, that's 4 attacks heading your way.

I just started playing with kirai so i'm no expert but i don't think you need to have 2 Shikome now that the Erreta is on. One and then sumon the other one is good. The first one can give it's prey via it's 0 action.
I Played games before the Erreta that i never used a Shikome and it's not to bad ether. Onrio and Ikirio was great for me against Armored foes.

Your milage may vary on Onryo, they are definitely worth owning, and definitely worth summoning with Datsue-ba, I, personally, have not found the trade off in reward vs. cost of summoning to be beneficial for Kirai, but that is just how I play her. Honestly before the change I only ever used Kirai's Evolve Spirit to Summon Shikome, and now I don't see it changing much, except to now occasionally summon Jakuna Ubume. I personally find the Shikome is still faster, harder to kill, harder to lock down, and does more dmg than an Onryo, even without prey.
That isn't to say the Onryo are bad, they aren't, I just find they often don't measure up to Kirai's other options. Although to be fair I normally run swarm lists with Kirai, which might be why I don't find mid range threats very effective as I need my hitters to hit HARD.

Though you are right about shikome hitting harder, they do cost you that extra very important spirit. So although you are right that I'm underplaying how strong the bastards are even without a prey, now the resources you use to bring them to play have to be thought about more carefully since they aren't the sure death missile anymore and can only become death gods by concentrating the pain with another shikome who does have prey active.
Basically, yeah, it's still good, but the spirit cost stings more now so it requires a bit more of a pause before you send one of those out there. The other thing going for Onryo is their perma slow, may not be as hitty, but they start chucking debuffs just by being there and that can become annoying quick and I've forced enemy masters to burn stones just to stop that effect.
I do agree with the errata, shikome were bloody madness, just wanted to see if people change their jib or not. And I didn't know Kirai self sacrificing herself was a no no for a while, but hey, having it be legal is still sweet.
Nobody seems to care about her poor avatar though it seems XD

Gotta love the Onryo for all those armoured opponents though. And more then once has the ability to strip I2I helped win a game... (most recently by stripping I2I off aRamos and stealing a relic late game)

Having played with Shikome for quite a while before the model came out (the book 2 rules are as they are now, only prey when there to start the game), I found them very useful as summoned models. Anything with Nimble and isn't slowed ever (including when summoned) is VERY good. When they changed them to get prey upon summon I thought that was bordering on over the top. I'm glad they gave them the slight nerf, as there is now a reason to possibly take one in the starting crew. As it was there was never a reason to start one on the table instead of summoning it in turn 1.
That being said I've had more success with Gaki than I've ever had with Onryo. The 3 dmg weak when close to Kirai makes their hits dangerous, thus eating cards out of your opponents hands. And if you're keeping your army tight (which I tend to do a lot of) Seishin's Empower Spirit make the Gaki a force to be rekoned with.
