Tuco Taint Loyalty: Not my Friend, but not my Enemy

Just a clarification, I believe, that needs to be told to people who might have been wanting to use Tuco for Taint Loyalty shenanigans.

Tuco's Taint Loyalty Effect: "Target model loses its Faction affliation and is not considered friendly to any other model in the encounter"

I believed that the Taint Loyalty effect would mean you could have an enemy under your control for satisfying Neverborn Master Avatar requirements. A dear reader seemed to have brought up a very convincing point.

Though the model loses Friendship through this ability it will not be an Enemy. An Enemy, as defined by the RM (pg 13), is defined by satisfying the following requirements.
    • It is currently under another Crew's control.
    • It was hired by another Crew and is currently under the Crew's control
    • It was brought into play by an enemy model and is currently under the Crew's control.

Since Tuco's ability changes none of the above points we are left with an very un-Friendly but not an Enemy either.

Reminds me like some bad roommates I had. Didn't like them, but I didn't hate them at the same time.

edit: This is not a question, but a confirm/deny request of how I see the ability as now.

The way it was played in a recent tournament was the model that suffers taint loyalty is still under the player's control just it loses friendly status thus it doesn't benefit from things that affect friendly models such as auras, spells, etc.

Thus in your scenario the player with Tuco doesn't gain control of the targeted model like you would as with Obey and would not satisfy the Avatar requirement.
