I *WANT* effigy to have a buff like that, believe me...

I need to justify 4 points in my list with more than "I really want to get the model".
I tried to field Avatar last night for the first time... Made a STUPID (Big time, bad) mistake and never managed to manifest before Nicodem was killed.
I put all my hopes on a single casting of Rigor Mortis on to Lady Justice... Flipped a black joker on the stone cheat...
So, the things wrong with that picture?
1. A single casting I am relying on.
2. Rigor Mortis has a range of 10.
3. APPARENTLY Lady Justice has a melee range of TWO(!!) (d'oh!)
4. Lady Justice has a charge of 8... So, lets do the math... Rigor in range of 10... Her charge is 8 and melee range 2... carry the zero... equals... Nicodem is dead.
Not exactly dead that specific activation... he had 2 wounds.
I had 4 mindless zombies shamble up at the end of the turn to get near him.
If I had gotten initiative next turn, I was going to reanimate saccing all 4 MZ, dropping a Rogue on her head and then manifest out of melee range, then drop some more mindless near me in case I need to sac them.
Instead, he got initiative and wiped out all corpse counters, then killed Nicodem.
Now, I am left with a Molly+Totem that had copied Reanimator instead of Rigor Mortis, but no corpses in sight, and a Rafkin that had no one left to help or do anything useful with...
Game over...
So, I still have yet to actually use the Avatar. :(

Its a shame to hear that you're investing so much time into the avatar, because once you use it a few times it will just sit on your shelf and look pretty :(

Well clearly he's terrible, he is part of Nicodem. Who as we have all come to learn is only to be used by the best and sexiest of players.
A-Nico is beastly. Mindless zombies may be crap, but when you spam them out the Way A-Nico does, you can own the activation order pretty easily. Also seeing the Old guy surf around the board at wk 7-8 is kind of awesome. Combine with the fact that he kept his top 2 spells in Riggor and Decay and I see no reason not to attach his avatar every time I play Nicodem. You lose his summoning flexability, but gain so much more. My recomendation to anyone who is have issues with A-Nico is to focus less on summons and more on Riggor!Last edited by Zephir; 05-04-2012 at 10:44 AM.

I don't see how popping out 2-3 PZ's a turn is a bad thing. Yes, you lose Bolster Undead, but PZ's don't really need it to get the job done.

Using the same argument, I'd not have fielded Nicodem all 10 times I played this year.
What is his final-table tournament worthiness? Don't much care.
( I will not add Von Schill to my rezzers for the sake of competition...)
I will find what works best with him and play that. Being an optimal rezzer is not my goal or I'd stick to Kirai and McMourning.
I am far more interested in understanding how to best play the master I like the most. Then let the chips fall where they may...

Id still argue anico is the way to make nico competive he gains speed and survivability his weapon get better and free mindless zombies that you can still fodderize. Sheer killing power its mcmourning. However a nico mobilty boost base walk of 4 and the average flip should net 2 mindless zombies. But again everyones milage meta and what not may vary. I like him i think it fixes a lot of nico namely mobility but again gruesome but it best. Nico is decidedly easy to manifest and retains most of his flavor and advantage. Is he the best resser not by a long shot but he's great when he works.
