Con day at the Lair
So my gaming group played all the Adepticon encounters on the 21st and I figured I would post up a small report on how it went. There were a total of 8 players, which was really good for a store that just starting selling Malifaux 5 months ago. The group included 2 Guild, 2 Neverborn, 3 Arcanist, and 1 Resurrectionist. The encounters were quite fun and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Some of the Arcanist felt the encounter were set up against them, but I think it was just the match ups. Over all, it was a success and the group seems to want to do more events, so be looking for them in the future in the event sub fourms. Thanks go out to players, which most have an forum account, so I can name them off and maybe even get some battle reports out of them. So thanks to Explorator, Ellraiser, Ironskullbo, EnternalVoid, and VonClausewitz.

One thing I hate for my players to have to put up with is the odd number of players and having to take a bye. So when this does happen, I will jump in the event also, just to keep the event even. When I do, I rarely play to my fullest abilities, no one wants to be wiped out by the EO in an event so I go with pretty fluffly list. Since there was an odd number I jumped in to even things out. I figured I would post up a battle report of my games and maybe get some of the other to do the same. So here we go!
I ran the same list for the whole event, that way I was not picking on anyone one player (though I should have changed my list for VonClausewitz, more on that later). For the event I had finished painting up the Redchapel gang so I ran that. Seamus, Madame Sybelle, 3 Rotten belles (know as Cassie, Olivia, and Fiona) and the Copycat killer (known during the event as Wee baby Seamus by everyone).
In the first round, I played one of our newest players using her Rasputina box set. My objectives were a claim jump, breakthrough, and eye for an eye. Things did not good for either of us as we flipped stampede for the event which happened twice and caught all the models in both our crews. In the end I won, as she was not able to get to her objectives in time.
In the second round, I played the veteran in the group, VonClauswitz. As I am the most experienced members in our group (I was one of the two people that got everyone else into Malifaux) he did not pull any punches and even though I could have changed my list to help with the encounters I kept it as is and made due with what I had. My objectives were reconnoiter, hold out, and framed Madame Sybelle for murder. This was fun and tough game. I had little chance of pulling off reconnoiter with my crew, but I hoped to pull off the other two. Some high lights included Madame Sybelle lureing Lady Justice to finish her off, only to have Lucuis walk over and do the job. The two belles did their best to try and hold off Lady Justice, only to be cut down by her reposte and cb 11. At the end, I had nothing left and did not deal a single point of damage. Lucuis even walked over to my deployment to make sure I score no VP at all. Even for the fact I was totally wiped out, it was still a super fun game. Next time VonClauswitz gets the real deal! -laughs-
In the last round, I played another one of the newer players, Ironskullbo and his Marcus crew. He was running Marcus, 3 silurids, and 3 molemen. The objectives were a shared claim jump (which moved around for the first 4 rounds), bodygaurd, and placing a grudge on one of the silurids (which is known in our group as Jazz hands). I know this guy well and always enjoy gaming with him so this was also a very fun game. Some highlights of the game include having the main objective stomp across my whole crew and part of his dealing 2 wounds to everyone. Madame Sybelle flurried twice in the encounter to wipe out the molemen, only to have them die on the first attack. Marcus took a flintlock shoot to the face with a red joker (which I then flipped weak damge after it) which he then realised he could pass off onto a moleman to save Marcus. At the end, I lost by 2 points.
At the end of it all, it was so much fun. Malifaux is one of the only games I have ever played that even when I get floored, I still have fun with the game. I placed 5th in the event, but then again, I was not trying to get much higher. I am hoping some of the others will see this and post up their reports.I went Through the Breach once, ended up on a podcast as a host. Maybe you have hear my Disturbing Whispers... Sometimes down in the Bayou, when gremlins get bored, they climb in a pig pen and have a brawl!

So as I promised I am going to post up a quick rundown of my 3 games. I played all the games with Marcus, 3 silurids, and 3 molemen. I have been playing with the silurids for the last few weeks so I have pretty much gottiesu
the hang of them. The mooemen were a whole new thing. I have never used anything with the armor ability and got it wrong in my first game. I like the molemen as they allowed me to play Marcus a little closer to the front lines. Not having to put Marcus defensive abilities up with the added protection of the molemen means I got to use staredown and feral a lot more. On to the battle reports!!
Game one vs Collodi
2 stitched, 4 wicked dolls, 4 manequins
My objective was a claim jump and my opponents was to interogate 3 objectives. I had the added bonus of having to stop him from interrogating the objectives. My schemes were bodyguard (Marcus) and assassinate (collodi). I have never played against collodi and wow he makes all the dolls super fast.
I started by running the molemen to the center of the table and trying to dug in. Two succeeded. They got charged by a lot of dolls and only one ended up living. I got the armor rules wrong and didn't realize it reduced the damage to one. The surviving moleman sat surrounded by dolls that kept failing to break away due to a lot of really good flips by me. Meanwhile the 3 silurids were leaping into combat with multiple dolls, swinging until they killed their target and then self preservationing away. Marcus casted feral, howled' and stare down every turn usually targetting a stitched together. The first one died trying to use gamble your life but with my high WP on the molemen and the negative flips from staredown he dies quickly. The other a few turns later from the same thing. My opponent got 2 of his objective markers but I picked apart any dolls that came too close. Marcus cast wild heart for bear/eagle and beat down collodi with the help of a moleman. After combat was cleaned up Marcus went for the claim jumo. End of game. I got the claim jump and both my schemes. My opponent only got the 2 points for 2 out of 3 objective markers. Win for Marcus.
Game two vs zoraida
Insidious madness, vonschill w 5 soul stones, stitched together, freikorpsmen(1)
I took grudge on the freikorps and stake claim on the only piece in his zone.
I planned on playing the same as last game with the molemen soaking up damage and the silurids picking on weak things. That did not happen. Turn two was when the action started with Von schill jumping over and killing a moleman. The insidious madness caused some problems for a turn until I tore it apart with the silurids. Vonschill shoots and kills a silurid. I take out the stiched with the last two silurids turn three with Marcus using feral and staredown. A molemen gets shot and takes a wound hen gets poisined by a summoned doll. Zoraida tries to her the two remaining molemen to take out Marcus but he is surviving. I get vonschill into combat and kill him 4 times but he uses slow to die and soul stones to make healing flips. The friekorps makes it to combat and kills the last silurid. The vonschill jumos out of combat and away from the fight. I had to make a choice whether or not to chase him. Marcus could kill him for good but I need to do some damage to the friekorps in front of me and score points. I choose the latter and strike the final blow to the freikorps with my last moleman and the game is called. I get my grudge and nothing else. I lost by two points and don't rmbr what my opponent had. My plan for next time is to kill Von schill asap or ignore him altogether.
Third game was against lord of zombies and he has given you the rundown already. Overall I had a lot of fun and took third with Marcus. I feel like I am getting the hang of the beastmaster and he isn't as bad as people make him out to be. I'm looking forward to the next event.
