SO ANNOYED.
I don't use a lot of Citadel paints, but the one I've used on just about every miniature and diorama I've done in the last four years (Charadon Granite) no longer exists. The "equivalent color" they list for it isn't even close. Grrr.

I didn't think to bring a pot with me to compare, so there may be something close, but not in the "base" range, which is what the foundations are now called. Charadon was the color I painted the rims of the bases on all of my gaming figures, as well as the best old worn steel color for sponged on paint chipping, which I do all the time.
Overall, I like the direction the new line has gone, but that's a really unfortunate loss. I even predicted it to my coworkers- every single time GW has changed their paint range, they've dropped a color that was one of the main colors in one of my armies or BB teams. I thought maybe I'd be lucky this time, since I hardly use any GW colors with any regularity, after trading at GenCon for the entire P3 line and nearly all of the Reaper line. I use a few of the Foundations here and there, and some of the washes. Dark Flesh and Snakebite Leather (the new line has colors close enough to those two) were my favorite rust colors, and then Charadon Granite for bases and paint chips. As soon as I realized how much I actually use Charadon, I predicted it would disappear and nothing close would be part of the new line.Last edited by Bexley; 04-07-2012 at 10:01 PM.

You might check in at the reaper message boards and see if Anne can suggest a good mix for it from reaper paints to achieve the same color. She is a genius at that!

Hey Bexley, I've got an unused pot of Charadon Granite you can have (actually I bought the set of foundation paints and they're still sitting in the box!), can't get it to you in time for this round but assuming you'll go through it could be with you in time for round 4. PM me your address if you want it.

Well, I can figure that out easily enough. The new Skavenblight Dinge mixed with a bit of Dryad Dark is pretty close. It's losing the convenience of not mixing that's annoying. Especially when it comes to base rims- I don't mind mixing colors for a figure, but mixing up a color to match the bases is going to be a pain. I'll likely just choose a new base rim color for future works, and only color match when adding models to older armies.

You could get an empty paint pot and mix a full pot of it and then you have to mix just once?
I feel your pain. For a while I was wondering if Reaper tracked which paints were my favourites and used that as a guide to what to cancel. ;->

OK guys and gals it's cringe time again.
My Round 3 ITIC entry is in the gallery and - wait a minute - before you go rushing off to see it remember wag is a rubbish painter, his construction skills are c**p and he won't get any better no matter what you say. But, and this is the really important bit, I do it for fun, because I want to. I'll never win any prizes but that's not why I paint; prizes are for you good painters out there. For me the best prize is if I can give you a chuckle and brighten your day. Now you can have a look, but don't say you haven't been warned.
See you in the asylum
