I like using dice to mark my wounds. It's not like there's a danger of rolling them. Eliminates dry erase.

I have shared some of the issues the OP brought up. We just try to share what we have, like our only book 1, and photocopies of the fluff sections of it etc.
Nice quick and decisive reply thought Nathan, and though I can't say I'm surprised you guys are working on it, it's still good to hear. I think the supposed RPG could have a huge positive effect for circulating the fluff in particular, as well as re-releasing the old material in omnibus-ish forms. Though I'm sure you guys have thought of this much more heh.

I use dice or wound counters- Malifaux doesn't have the wound box mechanic of Warmachine, so I see no need to bother with dry erase markers.
I've taken to flipping my cards from profile side (the side with the stats) to picture side (the one with the pic and mini's name only) to indicate which models have already activated that turn. Seems to help my opponents keep track and it certainly helps me. If I laminate or straighten the cards I lose that benefit.
I used to prefer the PDF cards where everything is on a single side- I still recommend those for teaching new players when they are an option as it's easier to go back and forth between abilities without having to flip the card constantly, and sometimes I still use those for my Masters.Official Scribe of the Unofficial Malifaux Find a Game/Opponent Listing.
I coined the term "Classicfaux." Not much of a claim to fame, but I'll take what I can get.

Might as well chime in myself

I laminate too, but go all the way to the 10 mil thickness. It's a bit more expensive but it makes the cards very, very solid and they can double as ninja throwing stars if I run into annoying opponents ;)
For cards, I LOVE the Puppet Deck - it can be rough to read at first, but you actually get used to it pretty quick. I can tell the suit (and often the number) by the character art at this point, and W/M/S marks are really unnecessary. One tip: 1-5/6-10/11+ is the same spread as damage modifiers on a strike. Once you have them embedded in your brain, you shouldn't need the W/M/S marks at all.
Fluff - yeah, it's an issue, as are (IMHO) the few models which are printed on Book 1 but not available in v2 cards. It's good to know they're working on something for this

Buhalin,
The Puppet Deck also has the W/M/S on them, its just hidden. There is a dot on the card by the number that tells you which one it is.

agreeing
I personally think the fluff for malifaux is so good that it is indeed a barrier to entry if it's not easily obtainable. I have no clue how to suggest offering all the stories in one neat, practical, and affordable package. Truly it seems like something that would be worth downloading as a Ebook from amazon or kindle for a price. Then coming out with a limited print, collectable hardcover at Gencon or something. Where the puppet card decks are concerned, I almost wanna start using regular card decks. Truthfully, It would have been interesting to see them use regular suited/numbered card decks with malifaux card art on the back. It would increase the utility of the card decks by letting you use them for poker or other card games.

I think an app would fix most of the real problems here, access to updates, fluff, etc.

If you go to Rymans or Staples you can get a laminator for about a tenner. A6 pouches are perfect for stat cards, they leave roughly 1cm around that you can trim or leave to give you room to make notes. Pouches are about £3 for 25 and Rymans normally have them on 3 for 2. It's so much easier to laminate.

I have to agree with the OP about book 1 being out of print. Lucky for me on of my friends managed to get hold of the last copy in Australia and I got to borrow it.
It's not just fluff that people are missing out on but there are minions in there that are not on the V2 PDF! What are people starting out supposed to do? Buy all these models blind just in case they might use them? Seems silly that the book is out of print and key information about the game is not available in another form.
As for the errata confusion this is a know problem that Wyrd are trying to address. I think most people will agree however its better to have this problem than a broken rules system.
