Does armor block the damage from things like shatter, or self destruct?

Since those nflict damage, not wounds, then yes, armour will mitigate some of it (to a minimum of 1)

Armor reduces Dg from everything, except things that specifically say they ignore Armor. Abilities which inflict Wd instead of Dg are not reduced by Armor.
