Round 1 ended with 36 painters left. That means with no more DNFs there can be a 3-way fight in the final round. But will the pairings go...

Round 2: 12 battles of 3, Round 3: 6 battles of 2, Round 4: 3 battles of 2, Round 5: 1 battle of 3

or

Round 2: 18 battles of 2, Round 3: 6 battles of 3, Round 4: 3 battles of 2, Round 5: 1 battle of 3

or

Round 2: 18 battles of 2, Round 3: 9 battles of 2, Round 4: 3 battles of 3, Round 5: 1 battle of 3

How well they want to be able to handle DNFs and how quickly they want to narrow down the field will probably determine where the next 3-way battles fall in the schedule.

I'm hoping this round will be a classic twoway battle - probably there'll still be some DNFs (hell, last year there was a DNF in the final round if I'm not mistaken) so I don't think there'll be any need for threeway battles... (except maybe in the final round...)
