    push direction

Just a quick question that came up last night. If a push does not stipulate towards, directly towards or to within a distance of something when making the push, can you change direction mid push? A push is basically a normal move that doesn't allow disengaging strikes unless one of the above stipulations is mentioned, yes?

the real question is, who chooses the direction... but we're still waiting on a ruling for that...

In about 99% of the cases (notice I left it open for you to bring up the exceptions, Smigs ;) ) it's the model acting when the Push occurs, or initiating the Push. Example, Lure: model casting it determines the Push.

thank you, was that so hard?

I've been waiting a month on a ruling for Bishop's/Nephlim's Toss Aside.

tho, i have to ask, for clarity,
by "the model acting" you mean "the controller of the model that initiated the push"

My assumption would be "model acting" = the model who's action/activation it is. Not the model moving from that sentence. But i think the sentence does leave it to open for interpretation there also.

I agree Model acting would be the Model that used the action or cast the spell that is causing the push to happen.

Cool, in a game the other day I was using the dead rider and was told that I couldn't move up 5 inches as part of mounted combat, hit someone, then turn around and drag them back 5 inches in the direction I'd come from.

Which doesn't necessarily means it is the activated model (may be a result of Obey or a defensive trigger for example).

I'm writing from memory right now, but I think the Rules Manual defines "acting model" precisely enough (as the model which is executing the action, not the model activated at that point).

the problem in stating that the model decides...
is that the model can't think. the player does.

now, in the "push friendlyness" thread, the rules guys stated that the model moves itself, and thus the push has no friendliness when it happens...

which is where the whole "who chooses the destination" part came into play...
