    Rotten

So Rotten Belles drop Moldy Stuffing when they are torn apart. Moldy Stuffing grants something the Rotten characteristic. Does this do anything? I cant seem to find anything in the rules and haven't seen a puppet other than the Belles that have it.

I believe it may be a 'Trait' that the Puppet with it gains. Other Puppets also have the 'Rotten' trait - Autopsy, Zombies etc. So far it doesn't seem to mean anything, but in expansions, maybe this trait will be mentioned. It may have something to do with being 'Stinky' like the 'Stinky Hat'. Cheers!

I haven't seen the cards but I think having the Rotten trait enables you to have upgrades with the Rotten prerequisite.

    Rotten is a characteristic.

It's just something for abilities to key off of. For example, "Target Rotten puppet is sewn up."

At the moment I don't believe any abilities key off of it but as has been said, future expansions.

And yes, it could also be an upgrade prerequisite.

Thanks. Exactly as I thought it may be. I was wondering if at present having the characteristic did anything passively and I simply overlooked it.

I originality and somewhat still think that the Moldy Stuffing the Rotten Belles drop are more or less a drawback for taking them. Let me explain. When taken with Seamus I can pluck the buttons off my Belle, send her to the Scrap Heap and draw two cards for my trouble. The Belle at this point is pretty much a useless pile of stuffing, but because Seamus is around she can be Animated from the Scrap at the cost of a Decay Counter and a discarded Crow. Ehh, so what? Her item is useless I don't need her anymore. Ill have extra cards in my hand that will most likely allow me to sew her back together and burn her out contesting and capturing Work Benches. What im getting at is when building an army, One should consider that they have a 8 item inventory that allows the imagination to run wild with possible combinations between Puppet and Upgrades. Seamus is a man who likes his Women a certain way. Why wouldn't Seamus run three Rotten Belles? Because they are simply not good enough. There are other puppets that fulfill the same role and do not have a useless backside. So for my main man Seamus.. I have to send him to the fray with Puppets that are genuine social outcasts. Samurai's with no masters. They are not pretty enough.

So, Cool, This is base set and Rotten doesnt trigger anything yet. The Starter Should have included something that sets it off.

    Thoughts?

I disagree with your assessment of the Rotten Belle. She is amazing late game because you can discard 2 cards to have her not suffer a rip while exhausted. So as long as you have cards, you can keep animating her, which is important when you get down to 3 puppets and you want to do more than just move 1 space or perform a free action. She also has neglected, which helps keep her alive. On top of that Seamus can bring her back from the Scrap Heap, which is wonderful for some late game help. As if that is not enough, the +2 buttons doubles the life of over half the puppets currently available, increasing their survivability greatly.

Not every puppet needs extra combat or powerful tokens. Sometimes a little old fashioned endurance is all it takes to win the race, and the Rotten Belle has that in spades.

There is no question that the Rotten Belle has great survivability and when with Seamus, two lives. However her natural Df of 6, although suited Crows, it can be easily broken in many cases with a card played from a hand. Pending what Master you're running, Crows could be hard to hold onto and coincidentally may be more valuable than a single stitch on a Belle. Relentless? Two cards is alot. While I can see how it can be usefull in a situation where something needs to get accomplished.. You have to discard two cards and still have a hand that will ensure the Belles success in order to justify the animation. To take a Bench or Tear Apart a Master or trying really hard to confuse something are the only reasons that immediately come to mind as to why a Belle would need to be activated twice.
She can confuse which is great! but a mere Cb 1.. ehh, it may be hard to pull off. And even so there are a number of ways to remove counters. So now we have here a Puppet with the traits of a Tank that can heal and doesn't really present any offensive threat.
I would consider the Belle's role that of an aggressive Work Bench contestor. Run her in, burn her out, repeat. Only ever really expecting to annoy and not do any real damage. Only to distract. A smart player would see this and know that Belles are not a priority target. If one really needs to kill one, there are ways of bursting one down quick without a chance for any of its Abilities to matter.

On Moldy Stuffing, Upon closer inspection I realize that in addition to granting Rotten to a Puppet, it gives it two wounds. Better.. but Masters cant pick it up and it calls for a 7 of Crows in its AD. If I where to make use of this Moldy Stuffing to beef up something else, effectively making a more formidable tank, I would no longer be able to Animate the Belle from my Scrap negating in its entirety one of Seamus's abilitys. (I always have Seamus in mind for this Belle stuff) so Im going to stand firm on my thoughts on the Rotten Belles. I like them, Ill run one for character but at the current state of the game I just cant seem to find a good enough reason to not replace them with something that fulfills this same role in a more efficient way.

It is nice to animate a Belle a second or third time when she is next to another player's master. Hold onto your crows for that and cheat your attack. I might not take three Belles in a shoebox, but might in a game with more puppets. Also, it is easy to get rid of the decay counter.

I think you're missing that the rotten belle's upgrade, in addition to the rotten characteristic, also grants two stitches.
