Unstable Creation vs Consuming Touch
Let's say the Desolation Engine has 1 Wd left. Can he make a melee strike and save itself with the Consuming Touch trigger?
In other worlds: exactly when do you have to remove the Wd for Unstable Creation when it takes an action?

it seems like he would die before he could attack. if unstable creation said it took 1 wd after the action it would be different

I belive he would make the attack, but take the damage before healing so would die, but get the attack

Therefore you can't take a (1) action other than Pass, so timing doesn't come into it.

Well with all due respect, the issue is it seems completely against RAI because otherwise a 1 Wd desolation Engine can't make any actions except pass and that makes no sense at all. It seems against the spirit of play and the model. It has consuming touch so it has the chance to heal, if the Wd happens after the action then it is not a guarantee that it would kill it's self.
Plus you could argue that the Desolation Engine is not using a Talent that inflicts a Wd on it's self at all. The Strike action doesn't hurt it, so that escapes that rule. Its another ability, which it doesn't actively use, that deals the Wd.
It just seems like something is missing and it should be able to make that Strike while it is at 1 Wd.Last edited by karn987; 04-23-2011 at 10:17 AM.

I actually believe that Ratty is correct, by RAW.
I think this is why the Desolation Engine has all of the zero actions that it does, and the Necromantic Repository Talent. They give you some tools for dealing with a 1 Wd Engine.
It is kind of frustrating though, and I would LOVE to be wrong.

Hmm... RAW it seems logical, altough I feel like Karn does. This is a bit strange.
Anyway maybe this is the good way to go since with a Burn Out SPA and a lucky initiative you could activate 3 times the DE (and with Consuming Touch it would be quite healthy after it finished its 3rd activation in a row).

Local play we have had it take the wound after the action.
This has led us to play him so he is basically always one wounds down. He hits heals up and then takes the wound.
