    35ss - Tourny ~ What to bring

I'm a fairly new player to Malifaux and was wondering you chaps had any advice on running The Outcasts in a 35ss tournament. The rules for that the tourny is going to use is as follows...

    Tourny Rules:

35ss Malifaux Tourney utilizing Wyrd's new Gaining Ground 2011 Rules minus the painting requirements and V2 cards (each player will be responsible for having up to date

There will be a fixed shared strategy for each round, details to follow.

Scheme usage will be unique for the touney via the GG 2011 rules, means no repeating of bodyguard each round and the like.

So far I own the Ophelia, Som'er Teeth, and Viktorias box sets. Thinking of picking up the Von Schill, and Desolate and Souless (Levi just sounds fun on paper)

Since I've only played a couple games with Ramos what are my options on making a good list with what I have ~ I'm open to buying another box or a couple models.

I would pick up Von Schill, a Student of Conflict and a Convict Gunslinger. I would run Viktorias + whatever the strategy dictates for the scenario. Probably start with Viktorias, some ronin, Von Schill, and the Gunslinger. Fill in whatever else you can as points allow.

I wouldn't advise your first games with Leviticus to be in a tournement. He has a different way of playing that takes a little getting used to, and often tournement environments are less forgivign when you don't know what your own side is doing and there are time pressures.

Either a Gremlin list or a Victoria list will work well. I add friekorps to the victorias quite a lot now, so I would recomend getting them. And you would need to get some more mercenary models anyway if you wanted 35 stones.

With a Gremlin list at that size I would probably suggest using both Sommer and Ophelia, and look to buying some mosquitoes.

Both groups can make some very good lists, so its more which you would rather play.

    Quick advice

    For Gremlins

Ophelia + Somer is an awesome crew to deal with Guild on most missions. If the mission is slaughter, however, make sure you minimize your damage by first wasting the opponents activation with your Bayou Gremlins. Remember to keep Ophelia around the Bayou Gremlins to stop "Whoops!". Also do not forget about the Bayou Gremlins Spell list, it is amazing if you have an Odd hand.

Rami should be taking pot shots every turn at the closest target and using Dumb Luck when neccessary, and god help him if he brings Nino. Sommer should be making more Bayou Gremlins every turn (even in slaughter). Between killing your own models with Dumb Luck and Woops, you are balancing the points out. Remember that your opponent gets the points only if he kills your models. The Gremlins are only Ht 1 so you should be getting cover a lot.

If you decide to give Pigs a go, you have to practice their Swine Dashing maneuver first. When you Swine Dash you have to go to the closest model but once you get to them, you can continue your move! Pigs are real power houses but require a little more practice to get off reliably.

If you decide to go with the Viks and Von Schill, remember to bring the Librarian. You draw an extra card and you now have the option to heal anyone. Just remember to keep a Ram in your Hand and not use it until she activates.

All in all the Viks can be use straight forward, but die quick. Or you can sling shot one of them into the enemy and pull her back with the other Vik. Schill is just so frustrating to a lot of crews, and if you keep him near the Librarian you might not even need to cheat cards.

I know one of the lads is going to bring this:

    Viks
    Student of Conflict 3
    Von Schill 9
    3xRonin 15
    Convict Gunslinger 5

Playing with a goblin force how would you crush the power twins ?

    Was thinking about running:

    Ophelia +6
    Raphael 6ss
    Rami 6ss
    Francois/Pere

    Slop hauler 4ss
    8 Bayou gremlins

Depending if you mean the Viks, or Lelu and Lilitu.

The main problem Grems face on the table top is low Wp. So you will be fighting an uphill battle against neverborn anyways.

The best I can recommend against neverborn is bring Pere Ravage and Rami. Make sure that Pere is about 7 inches from the group and specifically Ophelia. Have Rami shoot the everliving out of Lelu then wait for the retaliation since you have little choice there. Pere on the other hand is a homing missile. Use Ophelia to move up and "Oooh a Girl", "Family Tree". This way you throw Pere at the enemy with wild abandon and at least he goes out with "Kaboom!"

Against Viks this turns a lot easier. Shoot them lots! Seriously if there are Grems still around they should be shooting the Viks. Pere Ravage is also very good against the Viks, but terrible against Von Schill.
