Questions on specific interactions
Hi! Myself and a friend have picked up a few miniatures to paint and have just now decided to play some games now that the mini rule book is out. I've got Ressurectionists while my friend has Guild.
I've got a few questions regarding specific interactions that I'd like to understand before we break out the Fate Decks and get playing.
1) A number of Guild models have the 'Fear not Death' ability. I'm not entirely clear on which interactions are considered to have a 'defender' and therefore receive the WP benefit.
- Terrifying checks? (I guess they do.)
- Sybelle's Rough Trade trigger? (I guess not as the interaction is not with the Undead model.)
- Any Resist duel against Undead casters? (This seems that they would definitely receive the benefit.)
- Sybelle's Shriek effect? (Yes?)
- The Hanged's Horrible End (Yes, as the Hanged is not targeting the enemy specifically to use his Unrelenting Terror?)
- Any others I've missed.
2) What is the difference between the Vulture's Bring Back action and the Chihuahua's Get the Stick!? The wordings are different but suggest the same outcome of passing a Corpse Counter from within 3" of the Totem to the Master whereever he may be.
3) What restrictions are there on targeting friendly models? Can a Death Marshal target the Executioner with a Pine Box? Can a Belle Lure the Flesh Construct forwards?
Further, do area effects (pulses and auras) effect friendly models? For example would a Punk Zombie using Slice and Dice hurt his allies equally as his enemies?
Thank you for any advice - I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens when we play.

Your the defender when your being actively targetted by an ability.
Get the stick actually pops a body part out of thin air and bring back transfers a corpse carried by the model to the master.
You can target allies all you want . You just make the resist flip and can then cheat it in any direction you choose.
Pulses like that only effect enemy models, so you don't have a problem missing your own guys.
Btw, don't you guys have a henchman located in your area? They would probably be more then happy to teach you the game and help you play better.

not after the new V2 card.
don't forget you can also choose to draw the result automatically. You can target allies all you want . You just make the resist flip and can then cheat it in any direction you choose.
No they really do hit your own models. There is nothing that says they don't in the rules. What might be confusing you is aPulses like that only effect enemy models, so you don't have a problem missing your own guys.
or an
never effects the model it originates from.
This is a quote from the old rules, but the new rules haven't changed as far as I know.
# Pulse: Represents an instantaneous circular range
of effect around a target, extending from the target's
base edge. It simultaneously affects all models, except
the model using this effect, within the effect's range in
inches.

Ratty I think you should edit your capslock away, it comes across rather bluntly..
Also, is that the truth you're saying there? Aren't pulses considered attacks? Don't have my manual yet, but they used to fit within the category even if they do not target.

I don't have any of the version 2 cards, no errata and I don't have the money to get the Rules Manuel ^^;;; forgive my outdated information.
I'm waiting on the free give away again to get my Book so it might be awhile.
As for the drawing thing I would have no idea if its still in the game.
And ratty, just goes to show you how much I use Pulses XD. Ill remember that now since I'm extending my Sonnia crew some more soon.

I believe the v2 cards are still downloadable as a PDF from the v2 card threads
www.wyrd-games.net/StatCards/Guildv2.pdf
http://www.wyrd-games.net/StatCards/...tionistsv2.pdf
www.wyrd-games.net/StatCards/Arcanistsv2.pdf
www.wyrd-games.net/StatCards/Neverbornv2.pdf
www.wyrd-games.net/StatCards/Outcastsv2.pdf
whenever something comes up I use them to check the new wording.

Page 51 of the Rules Manual:
(Rst) Resist Duel Required: If a Rst stat is listed for a Spell, when it is successfully cast any model that could be affected by it must win a Resist Duel (Stat->Final Casting Total) by exceeding the casting total or suffer the spell's effects. The Resist Duel occurs after the caster has completed its Casting Duel and successfully cast the Spell. Friendly models that could be affected by Spells requiring Resist Duels must resist as normal, but when determining final totals, can choose to tie the casting total and suffer the Spellfs effects.
