I'm not.

If you watch internet forums about tabletop gaming you will see this same thread come up every year. Every. Year.
Just the nature of the beast. Game companies are going to put out LE figs, and someone is going to have issues with that. Doesn't matter what the company does (or oft times, doesn't do), either. Heck, I've even seen gripe threads just because Company A released product at a con 2-3 weeks early, some folks thought it wasn't fair that they had to wait.

Thanks Wyrd folk for making this mini available to those of us not able to make it to GenCon this year. Man I wish I could be there but NOOOOO, I just had to go to Universal Studios for the grand opening of the Harry Potter park didn't I? ;)

Don't feel bad guys...I can't be there either and I'm 3 hrs. away from it! I get to go and serve my state and my country on drill weekend- Go Army!!! Which for some reason is the 1st weekend of the month (GENCON weekend-I think it was a plot?) Blast my dedication!!!
When dealing with goblins...one should never trust appearances!

A good solid point! So why do a Limited Edition of something people are rarely going to want - oh yea, to generate cash and interest!
Because not everyone can get to Cons, myself (for example) has a very ill 89 year old Father to look after.
"Sorry Dad, you'll have to starve and soil yourself for a few days whilst I go to GenCon" . . .
Which is kinda the point, its unfair. Just because you have no issue with it, you presume its fair and no-one else should be bothered.
Erm, no its not - you have to spend $100 to get one. Thats not free, its incentive based merchandising. Two TOTALLY different concepts.

The whole concept "at large" of limited edition mini's isn't generally fair to collectors, which is why (for the most part) I steer clear of them entirely.
I would rather spend my money on building my forces up, than waste additional funds going out of my way to get a LE mini - but I know some folks go MENTAL on Ebay (for example) and pay silly prices for them.
It would be for more logical to call it "Special Edition" and make it available during the GenCon season at the online store (like Darkson Designs do with all their GenCon models) - its still special, it would still have significance for those attending the Con, but it wouldn't alienate potential gamers/collectors in the way such Limited Edition releases do.
I know of gamers who've given up games because of Limited Edition Miniature availability (as an ex GW Mananger I've seen it in the flesh too - not pretty).

It is called Special Edition. We've just been calling it LE.
It is available during the GenCon season on the online store as long as you spend at least $100.
Looks like they've already handled your concerns
