I used some Golden extra course gel that is currently drying. I'm planning on painting them to look like burned ground or ashy rubble with plenty of blood. I do like scenic bases but they don't fit...

I use a pistol case with egg crate foam. Cost me ten bucks at Wal Mart. Bulkier models like the Mature Nephilim won't fit properly, but if I really want to, I can just dig out a big hole in the foam
