That's a very pointed, and touchy piece, but I think you pulled it off pretty damn well. Sculpting is a bit rough as well as some of the painting, but to be honest I think it adds to it all the more and has a bit of that rustic artwork feel.

Kid .. not so much so, has something of one of those toys (and yes, I know we all are technically playing with toys) look to him. That said, the piece sets the theme very well and the expression on the kids face is very hero worship.

Hero with a Hero Sandwich .. literal take on the theme and one I can't fault you for. Black is difficult to pull off well, and more so if your camera setup is in such a way to show it off at its best. Clean and smooth, and I have a feeling looks better than in hand than the photo.

Wolves look like they've got the drybrush treatment though to be honest I've seen more than a few of your pieces and I'm fairly certain you do NOT drybrush .. so I'll fault it at the models level somewhat. Like it .. don't love it .. but like it.

I've been there ... really. Like the Clyde Caldwell type gems. Windows though .. they work, but something about them says 'finish me'. Maybe a deeper or more transparent color? You did such a good job on the base and the cloak, I'm wondering if there is something with the lighting or the like that has made the skin chalky. Really think there was a chance here to maybe darken up the shadows (thighs, crotch, etc) and possibly her nipples to bring a bit more .. erm .. attention, to them (I don't mean that to perv out). The hair and the clothe really have a rich feeling to them where the skin goes a bit more chalky and lifeless (well and if he is sucking the blood out of her and that was what you were going for .. you reached it!).

I know theme was the only thing that carried me on this one- and it was a narrow victory. I agree it is a bit anti-climatic to get the boot in round one, but I don't see any way around that, without stretching the contest to unbelievable lengths....

However, we do have a 'Hey Gimme another chance' rule that I believe will go into play in this round.

Basically, since we'll have an odd number of contestants in round two, the HIGHEST SCORING LOSER (sorry so harsh) advances.

My calculations show we have 21 contestants left.

To be honest with you fine folks, I don't look at the entries too hard during the contest, and I never leave comments until afterwards..

But, I just got done going through them all...WOWOWOWWOW gosh, just some all around great stuff in there. Kudos to all of you.

Thx for the info demonherald... I knew it wasn't far to look but it was easier for me to ask. It's not the end of me painting by any means, it will just get fun to try and keep up in the I think I can, as I drive truck (over the road, coast to coast), I have a sudden influx of commission painting, and I start classes next month for my bachelor's in science. And yes, I still manage to fit in games of malifaux, warhammer fantasy, and 40k... and paint my own models too lol
