View Full Version : Teddy Crew?

I very much like the Teddy model, but it's not clear what Crew he would work best in.
Lilith seems to be all about Nephilm, and Pandora seems to want Candy & Cade. Zoraida seems to focus on swamp monsters.
So if one were going to field Teddy, how would you suggest doing this?
Thanks in advance!

Pandora. Kade has an ability to swap places with Teddy from quite a distance.

True, but I use a Lilth army for my scraps and since Kade is Neverborn, he can be fielded in any Neverborn Crew. I use Lilith, as she excels at beatstickery (so does Mr.Teddy) and I just make sure to field both Kade and Teddy if I want to make use of the ability. If not, the Teddy is a great addition to any Neverborn Crew. Also, beware running Teddy in a Pandora Crew, because if he is within 12 inches of her he loses his Immune to Influence ability, which can be quite the weapon.

Personally, once his model is releases (Can't wait for it to be out finally) I'm going to put him into my Pandora list instead of Kade.
The only function of Kade is melee power and Teddy does that much better. Sure he doesn't have Incite but that's a small loss for what this big cuddly bear can do.
The reason I say with Pandora is Open the Box. "Models within 12" of this model lose any immunities to Wp duels" this includes Teddy's terrifying 13 moral duel. So not only do they get slammed for a point just by losing while within 12" of pandora, if teddy has his Smell Fear up and they are close enough, ohhh dead model! Teddy rampages in, eat's the model's face, they try to flee, he strikes to stop them (and probably hits) then you get to eat them the following round.
His 0 spell Thing of Nightmares ensures he get's where he needs to be. Dead Of Night will let him survive most ranged attacks (since his def is effectively 7!). Dreaming Wings for flight for when you need wacky flying doom bear. And Out of Control for when you just want to eat faces. I can see Out of Control becoming the Pin Ball Doom Bear. Charge for 1 vs first target, use your teath and maul them. Then with your second ap, charge again!
He fits with Pandora most because of his terrifying. Especially since she can debuff the enemy so much that they can't effectively strike back.
The reason to use Zoraida with him is because of Obey. That + Teddy = gross amounts of damage.
Lilith doesn't do much for him, but she is all about board control and ensureing her pack of monsters reaches the enemy quickly. She would get teddy there in short order and then be able to pull him out when needed (Transposition).
Though over all, I would go with Pandora, especially if you are going to still use Kade in the list (Higher points then 25 ss basically).

I will be sticking Teddy in my Pandora crew- but only if it is a 35ss game or above. Although I may try it with Pandora, Kade, Teddy, and 3 Sorrows- to see how it will go.

My planned list for this lot is...
Pandora (Master)
Teddy (9 SSs)
Kade (6 SSs)
Candy (8 SSs)
4 Woes (12 SSs)
35 SSs
Candy hangs out with the Woes and Teddy to feed them while Kade skulks around ready to teleport the bear in. :)

Teddy is excellent for any Neverborn as he is the only real melee monster we have. (Niphilim are just OK and Juju is not a beatstick)
As a Pandora player I find it hard to justify paying 15 SS for Teddy/Kade just to use 'Where's Teddy'. Kade is cheap at 6 SS but he is not even worth that IMHO.
Sorry but Zoraida cannot 'Obey' Teddy.

Mature Nephilim are pretty beatsticky, so is Lilith and a swarm of young Nephilim are really brutal with a few flays, also don't pass off Bad Juju, the Doppleganger with any other beatstick on the table and the Hooded Rider is nasty as well. So while Teddy is a beat down kinda guy, he's definitely not the only one, in fact the Neverborn probably have more beatsticks than any other faction.
You could Obey if you had a brawl with Pandora and Zoraida and Teddy was standing next to Pandora. Even add in Hamelin and a voodoo doll and do it a many times if you want.

I love how you don't state the reason why, please do next time, it would be much more useful ^^.
Right, Immune to Influence, so oh well on that one heh.

Thanks, everyone.
It looks like I'll be following something like this:
M Pandora (Master)
1 Kade (6 SSs)
1 Teddy (9 SSs)
3 Sorrows (9 SS)
Add Candy (8 SSs) for larger games
Buying-wise, this is the Pandora starter + Teddy, so it's easy.
Thanks, again!

On a side note, anyone know teddy's release date?

This looks like more of a Terror/Melee list unlike the standard Pandora list. You will be needed your crew to do most of the killing instead of Pandora. If you are going down this path I would suggest adding Bad Juju (for his Terror 13) instead of Candy for larger games and just drop one Sorrow if you need the points to fit him in.
Strategy wise I would suggest liberal use of 'Project Emotions' early in the turn from Pandora and Kade keeping 'Kid's got a Knife' up at all times. Terror without the negative flip is just too easy to overcome otherwise. You still might struggle with shooty crews but it is a viable list.
On a side note it does give you the ability to use the Kidnap scheme which Pandora crews normally cannot do.
Good luck with it.

Somewhat on topic, we are actually trying to get everyone that games at our LGS to buy one Teddy model and it is each persons job to paint it as a different Care Bear. We will then put all the evil Care Bears in our display case. Hopefully we can get 5-10 of them going..

I actually ran Teddy without Kade in the last match I played in. Of course we have been playing 30SS in events lately so we have been building around that. But I felt that Kade and Teddy are kind of redundant at low levels. I ran this instead:
Crew Cost: 29/30 Remaining: 1 Soulstones: 6
Name Cost
Pandora 5
Sorrow 3
Sorrow 3
Candy 8
Teddy 9
Convict Gunslinger 6
I felt the Gunslinger added some much needed ranged threat.
I can't wait until we start pushing the points up a bit to see what else we can do.
