"Fear Not Death" Ability

Does Fear Not Death work when Resisting, say Lure?
It came up in the game yesterday and we couldn't figure out if the Resist Flip was a Simple Duel because you're using the Target Number of the enemy model's spell total, or if it's an Opposed Duel because you're using the enemy model's spell total.
Do you see what I mean?

one thing to bear in mind, although Belles and Sybelle are undead, Seamus isn't so with his Face Of Death you don't get the Fear Not Death bonus :D
