We'll see how Drew's tourney goes tomorrow but I plan to run this one similarly. Depending on the interest I might see about organizing a secret Santa exchange and maybe a canned food drive to go along with the tourney.

Good luck with the event, Dan!

Put me down as an alternate. I'm free that day, but I may get called into work. Plus, I want to make sure I got my figs painted and sealed before I drop'em on a tournament table.

Thanks Dan.

I am editing the first post but here are the rules of the tournament

Rules:
30 Soul Stone One Faction Open Draft - IE You draft your crew each round after finding out your strategy and opponents faction. The only rule is you must stay within one faction

Malifood Drive(thanks to Dv8guy (http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/member.php?u=2020) for the idea) - Each round you may donate canned or boxed food for extra soul stones. Each item will grant your crew 1 Soul Stone for the encounter or 5 Items can be traded in to grant one of your models the "Use Soul Stone ability". To maintain some balance and fair play the maximum amount of items per round that be donated for Soul Stones(or the use Soul Stone Ability) is 5. You can feel free to donate more(and its encouraged), but more then 5 items will only score you a lot of good Karma

3 Rounds with predetermined themed strategies and encounter feature. Players will be allowed to pick 2 Schemes as well.

Prizes

First Place - The First place Trophy, A Gift certificate for Games plus(amount depends on number of players), and maybe more(TBD)

Second Place - The Second place Trophy, A Gift certificate for Games plus(amount depends on number of players), and maybe more(TBD)

Thirds Place - The Third place Trophy, A Gift certificate for Games plus(amount depends on number of players), and maybe more(TBD)

Painting contest Winners - TBD, most likely a gift certificate to the Wyrd store.

How early are you thinking?

First of all, gamers are consistently late. There are always those that call in to the store saying "Don't start yet! I'm almost there!"

Second, Dan has to set up the tables before the gamers start showing up and distracting him with minutae of "what each scenario is going to be like", or "what do you think of this list?", or "how are you going to handle this rule?"

Third, We have some folks that come from out of state. And that means they have to get up and out earlier than those of us who are local to the area.

nilus

Not sure I can't start to much earlier then 12:30 since people are coming from out of town. I plan to put up the scenarios a week ahead of time to help alleviate questions and have people more prepared

Here is the tentative schedule I was going with for the day

12:30 (or earlier as people roll in) - Sign up starts
12:50 - Pairings handed out. People draft there army list for round 1
1:00 - Minis hit the table round 1
2:30 - Round 1 ends - half hour break and Painting contest judging
3:00 - Pairing handed out for round 2. Draft armies
3:10 - Minis hit the table round 2
4:40 - Round 2 ends - 15 minute break
4:55 - Pairings handed out for round 3. Draft armies
5:05 - Minis hit the table round 3
6:35 - Round 3 ends - prizes handed out

If rounds go quick or people don't want long breaks(or armies get drafted quickly) we might be able to shave time off this.

That schedule looks okay, (it will make me late to the place I have to get to) as long as we really stick to it. The other thing about toruneys, is that they are never on time.

I wouldn't call Lilith a Ho, She is a refinded lady who just happens to not enjoy wearing pants.

From DV8's Soul food thread I figure I would answer these questions as well

(1) Do the extra Soulstones get used for crew creation, or can I add them to my cache (thus taking it above 8)? Extra Soul Stones get used for creation. So you can't go over the 8 limit in game

(2) I think you specified earlier, is there a limit on the amount of "Use Soulstone" I can buy for my crew?
You are only allowed to spend 5 cans a round on crew building and it costs 3 to give someone use soul stone. So the limit would be 1 per game. Note that the "Use soul stone" ability only lasts for that one game round.

(3) Is there anything in particular that the local food banks are looking for as donations?
The food is actually being donated after the Food Pantry does it Christmas distribution. This is actually a good thing they told me since after the X-mas distro the pantry is empty and they can use just about anything at that point.

for more info on the Pantry and recommended items see the link below

the do-gooders get linked to your models, do they gain the speed of the model or what is their walk stat?

nilus

the do-gooders get linked to your models, do they gain the speed of the model or what is their walk stat?

They have no Walk of there own. Whenever a linked model walks the do-gooder linked to them is pushed into base contact with them after the move is complete.

Do-Gooders have a def 4 and 1 Wd. They are immune to blast damage, area of effect auras, and poison. Defender models that end there activation in base contact with a Do-Gooder are linked to them. When the linked model Walks, push The Do-Gooder into base contact with it at the end of the move. If the Do-Gooder is nominated as a target the linked model may choose to be nominated instead. Only 1 model may be linked at a time. The link ends if the two models are not in base contact at the start of the closing phase.

The text is a bit different then what is online currently. Before any movement caused the do-gooder to be pushed into base contact, but that can be problematic with certain types of movement so I changed it to just be walk actions.

The newest version of the PDF will be up in little bit(and the link at the thread beginning updated)

nilus

It was pointed out to me that since I modified it a bit I should not call it linked anymore. So here is the new text

Do-Gooders have a def 4 and 1 Wd. They are immune to blast damage, area of effect auras, and poison. Defender models that end there activation in base contact with a Do-Gooder are Escorting them. When the Escorting model Walks, push The Do-Gooder into base contact with it at the end of the move. If the Do-Gooder is nominated as a target the Escorting model may choose to be nominated instead. Only 1 model may be Escorting a Do-Gooder at a time. Escorting ends if the two models are not in base contact at the start of the closing phase.

First off thanks for everyone for showing up. The weather was less then optimal but we still manage to get 7 people to play. A even bigger thanks to Gary for making those awesome trophy bases and Drew for sculpting Killjoy Claus and painting the trophies for me.

Edit: Also thanks to everyone for donating food. We collecting a total of 129 canned/boxed food items. Not to shabby for 7 people.

1st Prize went to Rob(Phoenix). With a stellar 23 VPs
2nd Prize went to Gary(Fool). With 15 VP
And 3rd place was a tie between Kevin(Jokerohki) and Drew(WEiRD sKeTCH).

1st Place in the Painting contest was Drew(WEiRD sKeTCH)
