Hans - Custom Ammo - useful?

More specifically the explosive ammo. Is it all that useful to gain blast on a 1/2/3 weapon? The gun is average to start with (look at Nino for a real rifle) but this seems to make it worse AND its hard to make it work reliably...

Do you use Hans and if so - do you waste cards using the ammo options?

I use custom ammo mainly against undead and neverborn, or to ignore armor. (Rarely, if ever, do I use the explosive ammo) Most of the time, if Hans is shooting at a living model without armor, its better just to use control cards to try and get a headshot rather than add blast to his minimal damage output.
