Malifaux in Northern Virginia

Thalaric and I played the first game of many to come at Game Parlor, Chantilly on Tuesday night. We both decided that (for now at least) we are going to try to meet up there for games every other Tuesday night. We are going to be there on Tuesday, September 22nd. I am posting this to formally invite anyone in the area to attend. I am working on a board and he has some terrain to use. So, if you are in the greater DC area, come on out and help us build the community.

(I have never been so excited about a game that I lost on the first try :wacko:)

Unfortunately I'm not sure if we can get the store to carry Malifaux, but I'll have to talk to Cindy about that, and if we can get more people that could help sway their decision.

Well, if the store doesn't deal with one of the distributors that carry it, I'm told that Wyrd does deal direct with stores in many cases. That's the route I'm taking with one of my LGS's.

I'm in Manassas and just got a copy of the rules. I'll be ordering some minis this weekend and will be looking for you at Game Parlor in the next few weeks. Do you know which Tuesdays in October you'll be playing?

We are meeting on October 20th. The following Tuesday will be an off-week, and we will resume on the Tuesday after that. However, if you are going to be there on one of the off-weeks, just pm me and let me know and I will try to be there.

I will be there on the 10th. However, I won't be able to make it on the 3rd. Our usual Tuesday night event would be on the 3rd and 17th. I can be (and would love to be) there on any Tuesday night. If anyone is interested in meeting there on another night, pm me and I'll see what the chances are of getting there.

Hopefully next week I should be there. Normally I show up at 4:30, but it sounds like it might be better to show up a bit later to catch everyone.

I can generally show up any time on Tuesdays. I was there last night from 5:00 until 6:00 and no one showed. I would suggest that we set a standard of 5:00 as a meeting time. If someone has a problem with that and wants to make it a bit later, then post on here so we can all arrive in time to meet up.

Just an update. Due to the holidays we are going to get back underway with the Tuesday night games at Games Parlor, Chantilly on Tuesday, December 1st at 5:00 pm. We now have three of us: myself, Thalaric, and Uncle Willie. If anyone is interested in setting up a night at Games Parlor in Woodbridge, I will be available on Tuesday nights. PM me and I'll coordinate the weeks so that we can try to expand the community.

Time to ressurect on old thread. As most of you have seen, GPC is now carrying the full line of Malifaux. I was in the store and heard a lot of buzz about the game. So, I will be there on Tuesday nights (provided nothing comes up) around 5:00 pm if anyone would like a demo or a game. Uncle Willie and I were regulars for a while and life has gotten in the way over the last couple of weeks. However, I should be able to be more regular now.

By the way, if you come out, you'll get to see Uncle Willie's incredible terrain that he's built for Malifaux. I hope to see a few of the people I talked to on Tuesday.

A friend of mine and I met Nebiros today at GPC, and are quite excited about Malifaux. We've actually been drooling over it for a couple weeks now. We're going to meet up there next Tuesday evening around 5-5:15 for a demo/introduction if he can make it. I picked up a rulebook yesterday and am looking for my first crew (so much to pick from!) I look forward to meeting anyone that shows up!

We played our first game last night with Nebiros and Etna's Vassal last night at the Chantilly Game Parlor. We had a 3-way scrap between Lilith, Rasputina and Viktoria. Great game. We had a great time, and learned lots. Thanks to everyone that came out. Hopefully we can do it again soon!

I'll try and make it one of these days, I normally go to GPC on Thursday nights for some WarmaHordes. I actually work a mile away from the place. =P My training schedule prevents me from taking both days off in a week so I pretty much need to pick between Tuesday nights or Thursday nights. I'll def make it in there eventually though, and I may be able to bring a few friends as well. =)

I was, with Lilith barely eeking out the win with a score of 4-2-2. I did get the unlucky strategy of assisinate, so the general concensus was that I had to kill Both Viktorias AND Rasputina (plus any summoned Viks!). Obviously, that didn't happen. (I did get one of them though...)

Yeah, they don't have any themselves. Gotta bring your own. If I can figure out how to pack them so they don't break, I built a bunch of buildings for a western-theme city.

I have a few pieces of terrain, but unfortunately it's meant for Warmachine, which has much more forgiving cover rules. In the games that I've played so far, I find that you need some tall, LOS blocking terrain or the Guild will walk all over you.

That being said, I'd like to throw out the idea of starting a league for Malifaux. I think there might be enough of us around and I think it would be a great thing to encourage game play. I'd be in. I'm just getting started, but one of my friends looped me in -- and now I've dragged 4 people from my 40k group in. It looks like there are a whole host of people in this area. I think it'd be cool to get another way to organize around here rather than this one thread -- I'd be up for paying for something like Meetup to help organize NoVA Malifaux.

In any case, in for a league.

Besides gaming stores, I'm inside the beltway in Falls Church, have space for two games in my basement and terrain, and a number of people that I normally play with are in the exact same situation.
