6 Totem Previews [Archive] - Wyrd Miniatures

Hi everyone, I am pleased to present a preview of the next release from Wyrd Miniatures for the Malifaux game. Here we have the first 6 totems to be released (in no particular order):

Brass Arachnid
Essence of Power
Wendigo
Purifying Flame
Governor's Proxy
Voodoo Doll

These will all become available in approximately 1-2 weeks time, each sold seperately.

These look awesome!! I'm (kinda) glad there isn't a 'Copycat Killer' as I just made one out of an old Confrontation canopic doll with a top hat.

Yep, the copycat killer should actually be available in the 2nd wave of totems, likely in October. :D

The enslaved neph is unfortunately a bit further off, and baring a miracle won't be available for the tournament. (and by miracle, I really mean, it's not going to happen :P)

As for price, you should see them between $4.25 to $8.25 depending on size and complexity. (sorry to not be more specific, I'm not in charge of that part of Wyrd :D)

haha.. cool.. thanks for the intel! Time to buy a terror tot and convert it for the tournament. Just have to PM WS to see if that is acceptable.

Has any thought been given to releasing them as a boxset, with a little price break similar to the crew boxes? This may be attractive to those who are addicted to all of the precious metal that Wyrd has to offer... Just a thought...

With the 2nd totems released, I think you'll see that we certainly haven't overlooked the Res, and they're worth the wait.

As for a box set, perhaps in the future, but there won't be a full totem box in the short term.

How large/small are these in relation to their masters? Would the vulture from the base accessory pack be out of scale? I haven't seen it or the totem models in person but it seems like it would make a great stand-in until Nico's actual totem is released.

From what was said at Gencon, I guess the official Vultures will be much bigger then the one from the accessory pack. That being said that one would probably make an okay sub till they came out.

Personally I am holding out hope that they will appear in the 2nd wave and that wave hits before the Chicago Tourney in October.

Vulture Totem is much larger - we decided to have a bit of fun with it and Muller did a nice job on it. That's not till October though - they are at the painters now.

You are correct, the new vulture is a beast, but a VERY cool looking model. It will also be in the 2nd wave of totems. As for release date, I expect that it should be fore the end of October, but it may be close.

For that you'll have to ask Brushmistress, she did the Wendigo.

I did do the Hoarcats though, and I used just baking soda, and applied with watered down white glue, simple and effective! :)

It would seem that the essence of power has a soulstone as a heart, which is how the connected master can draw magic from it.

Just wondering, what are you guys using and what method of applying it, are you using for the snow on Wendy's base?

The wendigo base was done using TechStar Snowflakes (spelling?). I mixed the snowflakes with elmer's glue to a very thick paste, applied liberally and allowed to dry. Then I brushed a light coat of glue over the hardened snow and dusted more snowflakes over that for a lightly piled look.

The baking soda method is also great, and far less hazardous to breathe in.

From the unsubtle spoilers then am I to assertain that the Giant Mosquito will be available in the next wave? Will this particular totem be available as a pack, because Teef can have 4 of the little/big buggers?

They look great so far BTW, altho I expected the Voodoo Doll to look more like Eric's avatar and not like some demonic little toy with a knife!? :O

We have them, but it'll be end of week before release. I've ordered new packaging for clamshells as we're tired of individually printing inserts as the volumn has gone way up, and that's a time eater.

Okay, y'all are going to hate me but going to have to go ahead and hold off on releasing the totems until October 15th. Much as I would love to do it, and we've got them on hand in order to do so, we're going to start regulating our release schedule in order to help keep things even around here as well as make certain that distributors get their product in enough time to send it along to retailers, etc.

Again, my apologies, but its a business decision to help move things along around here. We've got the next three months planned out and hopefully with this will allow for a monthly release plan instead of a six week or more schedule that we've been on in the past.

And I do believe I would rather have more of a set schedual release than random time frame for new releases-especially since it will make it easier for you guys.

That is the plan, the slight delay should let us completely get our feet under us, caught up with things (mostly), and with a nice line of releases all being produced to be ready ahead of the schedule we're setting. It's all good things! :)
