Malifaux - GUILD WEEK

Malifaux is just around the corner, the train has been stoked and the convicts have been loaded up and the Guild is ever on the watch for dissidents and malcontents while protecting their interests as well as bringing their vision of peace and stability to the region.

The GUILD is the faction of the week that we are spotlighting with teasers, information and wallpapers as we march toward the release date. We'll follow up with additional factions every week.

First, wallpapers for each of the Guild leaders followed by a stat card of Sonnia Criid as well as some card art from the RAMS suit in the Fate Deck.

Sonnia's one of my favorite characters. I'm glad to see her kicking ass as the first Malifaux character card to be released.

just as a note on the stat card, it will actually fold, so the first image is the front and back of the card when folded, the 2nd image is the inside of the card. We wanted to do this because some models (particularly masters), have quite a few abilities and we didn't want to type out the reference tiny.

I do love the Neverborn though. They are third string for me behind the Arcanists and Outcasts of course. Steampunk FTW!

Soulstone Cache is additional soulstones a Master will bring to the game, any unspent soulstones are added to the Soulstone Cache after building your crew to determine your Soulstone pool for use during game play.

LOVE the cards. Super clever to give the abbreviated cheatsheet information on the front but a more spelled out description on the inside. I also love the folded card idea instead of the two separate card idea that WM/Hordes uses. I lose the second card in my transport all the time and it drives me up the wall.

Bullets for life wounds is also pretty cool!

And I like your little explosions to represent blasts. Clever. Clever. Clever.

Red abilities or stats with a trigger associated is also welcomed. Now tease me with the entire rulebook. That's a tease.

Well, some imagery will be questionable. The rulebook will shed more light on your thinking, probably, and you'll have to go from there. If it's all about the S&M dominatrix thing, that's just on the playing card and you will be able to use a standard deck you can get at any dollar store (trust me). You'll just have to remember what the suits translate to, but they should be spelled out in the rulebook and the royal cards are logical numbers, too: Jack 11, Queen 12, King 13. :)

Yes, you can use a standard playing card deck instead of the Wyrd one. What a lot of the playtesters did was simply write an 11 on the Jack, a 12 on the Queen and a 13 on the king as it's those values that are important. We obviously didn't have access to the official decks.

There are some other questionable models of course. (The hag for one) but I think if you work at controlling access you should do just fine.

I won't touch the Sonnia juices part of that one (too much potential there), but I will say that I'm bringing 3 masters with me, and we've already got a grudge match scheduled. If you win, I will accept defeat honorably. If I win, I will be sure to remind you whenever I see you. ;)

Not a private party at all. We've going to have afterhours demos and gaming on Thursday night, Play with the Designers on Friday night (pick Eric's and Dan's brains, try to learn secrets about the future of the game, learn whether Pandora prefers Coke or Pepsi), and a tournament on Saturday night.

The events will all be upstairs, room 211, iirc. 9-12 on Thursday and Saturday, 8-11 on Friday. Bring your friends. Bring your enemies. Bring people you've never even met before. There are prizes and other fun things that will be around, as well.
