Malifaux - Faction Spotlight and whatnots

Hey folks,

First and foremost, apologies for the delay in getting out the latest edition of the Wyrd Chronicles. We've been working on it for some time and while we've got tons of material put together and formated, it has become a matter of juggling too many projects at one time and something had to always go to the wayside.

The game has taken precedence as it very well should and is going along at a good rate but at the same time we realize that we need to keep additional information coming to you on a regular basis so we are going to change the format of the Wyrd Chronicles for the time being until the game is published and we are able to bring additional bodies on to help with the workload.

So, to that end, we're going to be releasing every couple of weeks a new 'tidbit' of Wyrd Chronicles, be it background information on Malifaux, hobby articles, stories and insights into characters or sneak previews of the development of the game (stats, first look at the card deck, etc). We hope that in this manner we'll be able to prioritize our time a bit better, continue to give you what you have come to expect (particularly as we keep promising it!) and wet your whistle for all things Malifaux.

This week, the complete Faction Spotlight on all five factions. This PDF contains the first three factions spotlighted in the original releases of Wyrd Chronicles along with the final two factions, the Arcanists and Outcasts. The PDF file is 3megs.

Thanks for posting this info. One BIG question in response to the change... What can the fans of the Arcanists and Outcasts that have eagerly been awaiting the release of Wyrd Chronicles #3 be looking forward to any time soon? We have patiently (sort of ;) ) been waiting for our turn with all the great stories that the other 3 factions have already been graced with, and this change of plans has got me confused on what to expect now. Will the Arcanist and Outcast material take priority until a similar amount is released to what was planned for the original Chronicles 3?

I don't mean to sound demanding or rude...I've just been wondering about the Wyrd Chronicles 3 for the past week or so. I almost made another post asking about it in the past couple days but I figured I'd not bother you guys. This new direction just has me concerned and excited at the same time.....don't know what to make of it.

I would say be excited and have no fear everybody get's there fairshare .. one of the things I am most impresse with so far in the w stories and background are developing is there are no faourites no stand out loners but everything is getting it's fair share of attention.. I am sure that in this format you will get your fi and can understand the slight unsure feeling gnawing at you waiting for your favourite faction to be covered...

As Nathan mentioned, there is a ton of stuff that we (Nick, Dan and myself) have written about, or tossed around ideas about, regarding almost every character and faction in Malifaux.

Now that Nathan is moving to a schedule where something can be released every couple of weeks, we might be able to get some of that out there. Be patient and you'll see. We're certainly not making any effort to favor one faction over another.

With Dan working on the fluff I don't think we have anything to worry about with reguards to the representation of the Arcanists.

He is a member of the M&SU so our interests will beproperly represented. And if not we can break his knees.

I'm not suggesting that Wyrd focus on Arcanist/Outcast just because I'm a fan of them. I'm only saying it because up to this point, they are the 2 factions that haven't been featured in the Wyrd Chronicles and were scheduled to be next. Therefore, the other 3 factions already have been favored over these 2 if the slate is wiped clean and the fluff distribution is started from scratch with equal amounts for each faction from here on out.

There are a fair number of Arcanist and Outcast centric stories that have been written that were intended for Wyrd Chronicles 3. I'm certain that those will be some of the first stories published in the new format (because they're already written.)

Just as a heads up, but pages 2 and 4 have "Volume 1" at the top while none of the other pages have anything, which they shouldn't since this isn't part of any volume. Slap your proofreader on the wrist! :D

Also (this may have been intentional) but there's no credits. Did the same person write all the articles in here or was it different people? Personally I like seeing who wrote what. Then if I should speak to that person later (like at GenCon or something) I can discuss their writings.

Bryan (who is Hinton) wrote the Neverborn piece and I wrote the others. Eric did the layout and I believe Steph did all the art aside from a few faction logos which were done by Kan-J. Lots of people help with the editing and proofing including Eric, Nathan, demonherald, and Commander Y. Kan-J also did the Gunslinger on the Outcasts page.

Hmmm, some interesting bits of info in there. I'm particularly intrigued by some new bits of info from the Outcasts section. I'm wondering if these snippets are referring to the same person:

"At least one has a greater role to play in the fate of Malifaux, a destiny tied to the future of the City itself."

"...whatever the final destiny of Malifaux, there will be an Outcast present in that decisive moment."

Seems pretty epic to me. I wonder which person (or maybe even group of people) this could be referring to, and it what way???
