Following on Deamonhearld's question.
Just answer the poll question.
If you feel you want your name out there then go ahead and post that too.

It's a title! It doesn't mean anything Rit! The details still need to be worked out. Perhaps it should say "Are you interested in participating in a scenic competition?"
That's what is being asked to be honest!

Cool! ;) In that case, yes, I'm interested...

Where's the "Maybe" option?
Maybe we could also suggest a catchy name for it here too? In the same vein as Femme Fatale, Total Testosterone, and Rotten Harvest.
Ideas?
A few from me:
Ground Breaker
Making a Scene
Ace of Base (yeah cheesy, I know) ;)
lol, I kind of like Ace of Base. Then it's sort of a title like Iron Painter but it's its own thing, being the Ace of Base! (Which I so never would be, but it's good to do something out of one's comfort zone, so maybe I'd give entering a shot.)

Ace of Base (yeah cheesy, I know) ;)
On account of being Swedish, I strongly object to this suggestion! :hmpf:
Ulf Ekberg, the "producer" and song-writer of the band used to be a neo-nazi skinhead when he was a teenager and even had a so-called white-power band. When Ace of Base became famous he denied all this. But, someone here in Sweden managed to find recordings of his old white-power band and released it on a record with the title "Uffe was a nazi" (Uffe being a common nickname for Ulf). :D
Ok folks, back to the topic...

I guess I'd enter, not much of a terrain builder though, I guess it would depend on the size limitations, and time limitations that were imposed.

OOO!
I like that!
At some point I'll go through and compile all of these ideas into a list for everyone to look at in a cohesive manner. (Probably tonight)
Then I suppose we all vote on what stays and what goes?

I would definitely be much more open to do a single contest than the Iron format. I just don't have the stamina for those. However, I've been much more inclined to join the regular competitions, even though I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm interested enough in terrain that I might be able to put efforts into a single competition project.

The other option would be to add a terrain category to existing contests. I can see the Rotten Harvest one having some very interesting ones.

calm calm down give it time man.. give i at least a couple of weeks with people throwing ideas in before starting to sensibilise it all. Too early will lead to nothing being any clearer. There are plenty of folk who don't visit every day who might be interested....

Considering the fact that the condition of my back deteriorated considerably today I'll take you up on that DH.
I was concerned about things getting unwieldy rather quickly with ideas being restated and rehashed unnecessarily.
Right now I am happily drinking a beer and am going to get horizontal until this dark spell passes.

I think I may be up to going into a single event contest...but the "Iron" idea if it follows the painting contest I dont know if Id have the time to do ilt....

I'm of the opinion that we should at least one or two regular contests to server to gauge interest before going into a full "Iron Builder" type contest.

keep throwing ideas in .. I feel that a one off comp so far sems favourable .. especially as we need to test the water.. as Nathan mentioned tacked on to other comps wit a possible brek out but again this is the early raw melting pot so all ideas thrown in wil be looked at sorted out accordingly .....

I would be in ....
could we call it Ass of Bass
since Basswood is an excellent light multipurpose wood, and things do sit on the terrain?

Not sure as people prefer painting miniatures than taking time to build a diorama. There are only a few entries each time there is a deadly duel category.
Happy to help out, not interested in entering.
And yes it does seem like a one shot (one round?) to test the waters would certainly be reasonable.

That is just about always going to be the case but that said how many people are there that would enter a dio or similar if theydidn't have to put a mini on it????? And we've never had a straight terrain section .. remember it's all about testing the water... The comp times particularly rotten harvest as that one always has the same date do draw a lot of attention so I actually like the idea of tacking it on to that one as an initial trial...

I like the idea of having a one off terrain comp (definitely not an iron comp though). I'm rubbish at bases and so this could be a good oportunity to learn!
