View Full Version : Wyrd January Releases
Nathan Caroland

January sees the release of four new miniatures for the Wyrd Malifaux line. Three bolster the growing ranks of the Arcanists and one for the frightful forces of the Neverborn, a behemoth which just made the swamps of Malifaux that much more dangerous.

Great selection of long awaited minis.
Excellent paint job on each of them, and a big Congratulations to Eric for finishing the Steamborg and proving to us that he still can paint!

Just a heads up, the Steamborg is a big fella, taking up the whole of a 50mm base though he is quite easily put together as Muller did a fantastic job on him.
The Mire Golem is our biggest and heaviest piece to date, also on a 50mm base though Saunders did a wonderful job with how this piece goes together and we've been able to save some metal due to the joins of this piece, though again, a dream to go together, something we've been working hard on for some time.
The Razorspine Rattler is a bigger piece but being a snake it is also thinner, thus the reason for its size but the cost affectiveness of this one as well. I've included a picture to show the size relation between Myranda and the Razorspine.
And now some raw green photos, as we're always asked after about these. The arms are seperate at the mechanical joints though they are shown together here.
Steamborg by Paul Muller, size comparison as well as parts breakdown.

Myranda was sculpted by Gael Goumon as I'm certain you'll readily attain by his trademark orange background. :D

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff29/Wyrd-Miniatures/Greens/beastmaster4.jpg
And the Razorspine Rattler 'green'. The upper teeth had to be cast seperately due to mold issues. Don't toss them thinking they are flash or you'll have a toothless wonder! Sculpted by Steve Saunders.

OK!
I need all four. I'm an Arcanist first and foremost but the Neverborn are certainly in second place and the Mire Golem is very sweet looking.
The Steamborg is so sexy though! WHOOO BOY! Needs me one (Or two!) of those BADLY!

I just checked the quantity available for each of them and noticed that Wyrd prepared for the Steamborg to be a BIG seller, which we all know it will. There are 999 available :)

I have the first 2 and have been waiting feverishly for the Steamborg. And I just put in my order for 1! The Mire Golem is soon? I have mini's on sale through Ebay, I got most of them as gifts but I know there ones I won't get around to painting...so they're looking for a good home! Cheers.

Great looking pieces! It's great that you put so much attention into ease of assembly.

I know that I should know, but is Jessica Rich someone from this site?

The spider guy and the tree thing are great. Especially the spider guy, gotta figure out a way to use him. Is that model multiple pieces, say torso seperate from lower body...
The mind spins...
TheBugKing
01-12-2009, 05:54 PM
It certainly is different pieces. Each leg is separate at the very least. It looks like the two arms are as well.
EricJ
01-12-2009, 05:58 PM
steamborg is 9 pieces
4 legs
lower body
upper body
2 arms
1 scissor blade
It goes together quite easily and holds together nicely, I still pinned it all, but now it's rock solid

@Thryth
Jessica Rich is our very own Brushmistress.
@Muskie
Thanks for the compliments, its appreciated. If you look at some of the earlier posts here you'll see a break down of the Steamborg. His body is separate from the lower chassis as well as two arms and four spider legs and everything goes together rather well. The legs join the chassis on ball joints so they can be moved around a bit as well for more stylized movement.
@Everyone
Thanks!

Well its about damn time!!! :p:
Nah for real, thanks for getting these out. Can't wait to order them when I get home. Been waiting on these for a while now. Wooooooo Whooooo!!!
Where's my debt card?
Mmmmmm goodies. I love the cyborg, Though I fully intend to use him minus the human bits. The Razor snaky thing is great as well, I look forward to menacing my Shadowrun players with it. And speaking of Shadowrun Myranda's gonna make a perfect Shadowrun shaman.

I actually had this exact same thought, because the bottom spidery part looks so awesome. And you actually will likely be able to get exactly that as a future release from wyrd, with some mechanically part stuck on top instead of the human bits

Holy mother of god. Now I have to pick up the friggin' Arcanists in addition to the Guild. I've been super tempted every week, but now it's official. "Army Brat" is no longer in my dreams...the buns on this new model - you could bounce quarters off of that tush.

They were all bound to turn around sooner or later once they saw the faction start to flesh out. It is the best faction after all. Thats not an opinion either ;)

I forgot to ask.... the new figs look Fan-Freekin-Tastic!!
But!
How do they fit in a carry case?
PP had some beautiful figs but they never fit in my cases all that well.... Does the 'borg fit in a case for transit to games alright?
Nathan Caroland
01-12-2009, 11:05 PM
I guess it really depends on what type of carrying case you have. We use the Army Transport Cases by Sabol Designs and they work out great. Tear out the section of foam you don't need, put the figure in, fit a bit of foam about it. Considering a lot of our miniatures for the shows are display or diorama pieces it works out nicely.

There's always a way...
But I hear you - my Legion of Everblight army has two seraph and two Angelii and there's not a foam tray made for those damned Angels. Literally a third of a tray just for one, and a big 3.5-4" tray at that. Very irritating. But I loves me my Angelii.

Will we be seeing any new group deals soon? It seems like Ramos has enough stuff to make a starter group with him, and I'm not sure about the Beastmasters yet, but it's looking close. If Rasputina gets enough little guys to fill out her crew and the beastmasters are satisfactory, we could see the online store go from 0/3 to 3/3 for available Archanist groups really quick!

That is actually a pretty accurate description of Joss as a henchmen, and the old steamborg as a henchment as well. I would never take Joss in my group if it meant I had to sacrifice taking the steamborg. Now that isn't an issue we can all live happily ever after (once we get balanced out against the other factions, anyway).

Found out I was right about Muller sculpting the Spydey steamborg. I asked on frothers, but then went straight to the source. Wyrd just keeps getting better as the catalog grows. It's really a cool vision as we see the way the factions are growing, and the models are usable for other games as well.

Ultra fast shipping from the US to France : only six days !!!
thanks Nathan, both for shipping and quality of the figures !
I love the mire golem (I might call him Ed, Ed Mire...), wish I had ordered 2...
The Razorspine is stunning and just screams for a diorama; my only very slight disappointment is the size of the Steamborg which is a little small for what I had in mind, but that is a minor concern...
The figures are well engineered and should be easy enough to assemble.
Now where to start ?
Cheers !
