It seems this year Rackham's RPG Cadwallon will finally see the light of day, and here's a bunch of new (and some old) minis for this game.

Most of these are very full of character! I think I will paint quite a few of those when they're released! :thumb:

Love the figures, sadly my appreciation of the mini's is overshadowed by my extreme Geek out at the Buildings....They're just awesome

Yes, that village they've built is mind-blowing!

Here's another terrain peice they've done (for Rag'narok I believe).

I wish I could see some of those in the group shots better. Some of those look very interesting from this distance, but it may be a different story up close. Like that elephant-looking guy in the back with the giant tusks (?)

I haven't been much interested in Rackham's stuff recently :( Overloaded with too much detail and I don't like that the metal they use seems very flimsy.

Nice pics though! :thumb:

That terrain is, if I'm not mistaken, to reinact the battle of the Kaïber Pass.

@Michelle : their metal has a lot of lead in it, that's why it's so flimbsy.

I think the metal has both it's pros and cons. It breaks easily, which is frustrating, but it also is easy to clean mould lines and flash.

@Cédric
I had a feeling it was the Kaïber fortress (or parts of it, at least)! It looks very impressive!

I think I would rather have something a bit harder to clean flash and mold lines on, but would hold up a bit better for handling and conversion work. The five Rackhams that I have all have broken parts.

The new miniatures look neat though.

Very nice stuff.

Glad to see Rackham studio jobs don't hold up to extreme close-ups :D

Might be the flash and poor lighting conditions.

@Anders : I recognized the passage in the Sÿd of Kaïber book where the Alahans charge the undead.

I think the 'true' paintjob is somewhere between these photos and the official photos. But, I think it's interesting to see these photos since you can get a better idea about how they are actually painted. Here you can see a lot of the brush strokes and see how they go about doing the highlights and such (at least in the better photos...).

They're mostly painted using glazed shading with just a few highlights it looks to me. It's the colour combos that make the paintjobs - using complimetaries as shades and highlights and mixing several different base colours on one surface. Very interesting.

The terrain piece is not the fortress on the Kaïber pass (Cry Havoc 2 I think has a map and it looks very different) : this is supposed to be an Abbey created for the Rackham annual convention in Paris (Open de Paris) that was held last week.
Speculation is on whether a smaller version of the abbey will be sold or not; personnally I have seen better...
Regarding the paintjob, a lot of visitors of the Paris Open have complained about its quality which seems noticeably lower than that of last year : so no, it is not the usual Rackham standard, and not everything is photoshopped...
One of the reasons might be the new line of paint Rackham released in December and that is supposed to be the official paint that their studio artists are obliged to use; if that is indeed the case, I regret having ordered some...
Cheers !

People I've talked to have complained about the Rackham paints producing a grainy surface and you can definitely see some graininess in these photos.
