View Full Version : Dead Heat looks to favor the attacker
Looking at the scores it seems odd that the attacker wins better then 5 times more often then the defender. In fact, only the Arcanist's managed to defend their territory. In the industrial zone they managed to successfully defend their sector with 20 victories compared to 16 defeats. Then oddly enough at their 3 CP area where they should have had an advantage over the attacker they managed to lose 62 times, and were unable to defend their sector even single time. The Resser's seem to have the same issue at their 3 CP sector (Deadwalks City) where they only succeeded in defending this zone 5 times, while being beaten there 74 times.
With the games listed the attacker wins 523% of the time, which seems odd. With the defender advantages I would have expected a slightly better victory quotient for the defender, rather then this huge landslide for the attacker. With the new change for this week that gives the attacker double points we should see a vastly different map come next week.

I was just looking into similar things.
Just did a little digging into the numbers. Had the rules for 2 points for an attack and 1 for a defense been in place last week, three territories would have been in different hands now. The Archanists would have captured Downtown from the Guild and Deadwalks City from the Ressers (both 3 point locations), and the Ressers would have captured the Souther NCZ from the Archanists (a 2 point location). The Archanists would currently have the most CP.
The attackers seem to be storming in, almost as though the players who flip to be the defenders don't really bother much. I'm surprised how fast some of the 3 point sectors are falling. Archanists are 0-62 in their 3 point sector. Ressers are 5-74. Neverborn are 1-22. Outcasts are 5-16. Guild are 11-64.

Are you sure you know the points tabulation formulas?
From the changes, I would expect them to be more about point differentials, but I dunno...
I find it hard to believe that the Neverborn took an area from another faction, but are 1-22 where they get an advantage.
ANd the rezzers being 5-74 with 5 corpse counters to start is not believable to me either.

Yeah, I noticed the same thing when putting in the data. I think some people were confused about reporting and assumed that they didn't get points as the defender. So, it's not a question of the attacker winning more, but the attacker being more likely to report a win.
Anyway, I'm hoping that the point change will make it clear that you need to report games no matter which one you are. And, if not, we'll see some stuff changing hands. :)

No, he's right. See my last post.
I got some reports where factions were getting 10 or 12 points in sectors which weren't theirs but 0 in their own, which strikes me as simple confusion about reporting.

Yeah I had a few people locally need to be explained that the winning player always scores a point for the sector(attacker or Defender). Oh well. In my opinion the campaign has gotten more people playing and having fun so its a success even if there are a few minor snafus early on.

a few minor snafus early on.
Snafus, good word choice.
That is all.
