Help with PreCreate !!

I am getting ready for my first attempt at sculpting, I have been messing around doing some bases to get a feel for the stuff.
The thing that im getting hung up on is finishing with a brush. The tutorials I have read say to use the normal lube (:laugh:), spit, water ect. does ProCreate require a solvent? Or am I expecting to much from the brush and need to get more practice in with the normal tools?
In the tutorials, it seems like the brush moves a lot of putty.

I worked with procreate quite bit. But I never used a brush (only think i ever used a brush on was for clay like stuff like miliput). Clayshapers are perfect for it. And Procreate doesn't work well with to much lubrication. I notice the top-layer acting a bit wierd then at times, almost flaking instead of getting a good smooth finish especially when rubbed on with force.

The tutorial I read was using milliput so that explains alot. I know the clayshapers come sized like brush's, do you have a suggestion on size and style of tip?

Size 0 clayshapers work well for small sculpting. Also when looking for clayshapers at te local art store, be sure to find Clayshaper and not Colourshapers as the Clayshapers are stiffer than colourshapers(color shapers are meant for shaping oil paints).

As for the tip, the cup and the chisel point are the ones I've used the most but all 5 have their uses.

Tapper point (most brush like) and chisel for me all the way. Preferable the black ones (clayshaper) and size 0. But i found size 2 very handy too for the larger surfaces. Bigger becomes to unhandy or useless.

I do use a colorshaper msot of the time, as I can vary the pressure better then. The shape I like most right now is the flat one, in combination with the tapper point.
I'm not too keen on ProCreate, but I also experienced that too much lube will make it flakey.
