Please please PLEASE limit purchases to one of each per buyer. There's no concievable reason why anyone would need more than 1 of any of these models except for reselling at markup. Especially when you only have limited quantities, it'd be just unfair for those of us who want to make legitimate purchases for ourselves, and it can't be a difficult restriction to implement?

I feel bad for the poor Wyrd folks sometimes. They come up with a great idea and something I am sure they knew we'd love. And now they are faced with considering our "suggestions"; something that will take up their time and resources.

Who knows if their storefront software is even capable of limiting quantities. I bet its not something they planned on looking into over the next week. Even if they pull it off, how effective will it even be since people can create multiple, dummy accounts? Maybe people won't be able to purchase 10 of one item in an order, but I bet a person dedicated to really working the system could come close by way of a number of separate orders.

On the other hand, perhaps they know they have more than enough stock and that it won't be a problem. That'd be nice.

I got the Dreamer crew for the picture of the Dreamer sat on LCB's shoulder, and when i saw the model decided i must have it, and based on the fact that it was only available at Gencon 2010 and i hadn't heard of the game by then, spent £150 ish on him on Ebay, now i have the model and its fine, but it is irritating that i spent so much, trusting the limited edition, only available once that i had seen and read from various people/places, and now i could have got it for less than half the price (at the time it totalled $237 US)

I just don't like to be told something is only being released once and then seeing that it was not true?

I am all down for them re-releasing the models. I am going to give back some of the money I just sold mine for as well because I am not a jerk. I would love to see these out and available. I have never participated in secondary resales until I sold mine this week. I never want to participate in secondary resales again. All things considered I think it was/is a fair exchange. I look forward to getting a new miss demeanor as I gave it to a friend post gencon this year.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. When I first brought the whole thing up, it was meant as an honest question/suggestion, certainly not a demand.

I'm really fanboy-excited. Since I quit smoking (again!) on Tuesday, by the time Black Friday rolls around I'll have already saved almost all of the money for Chompy, without even touching the "hobby fund"! This week can't go fast enough!

I gotta echo the sentiments of those hoping for one fo each per customer. Otherwise it'd be too easy for someone to buy out the stock at 12:01 and sell it all at a profit on ebay.

In any case, I'm very glad I'll have a chance to get the puppet teddies without having to track them down on the second hand market. Might be a good opportunity to buy myself a gremlinette too - just to complete my LE collection. ;)

These kinds of limits always hurt normal buyers more than speculators. If someone really wants 20 LCB to e-bay them, he will find the way around the restrictions... but if someone wants to join the order for himself and his buddies or family, he'll be seriously frustrated by the limit.

Yeah, without a doubt the NE LCB is an awesome model, even if I never played him I'd love to paint one up for my collection.

Well, on the plus side I just threw a couple hundred bucks out of my pay in the checking account so I'm covered there, on the downside however I have to work that Friday so it looks like I'm going to be pretty tired that morning. I think limited quantities to buy would be best. I've been dreaming of my own NE LCB. I saw him at Gen Con and almost bought him, but didn't have anyone to play Malifaux with and my finances were strained. I still nearly bought him but sadly moved on. Here it is in present day and I'm addicted to Malifaux....NE LCB is redemption for me! I've been a good boy recently, and I hope to one day own 90-100% of Wyrd Miniatures. If I'm lucky then I'll be one step closer to that goal. There is hope once again :-)

I don't want a dime back. Those transactions were all done fairly, and in good faith. I think that yours likely was as well. I can't see anyone thinking you were a jerk for selling something at a fair market price.

Thanks Wyrd! My son was SO excited when we pulled a Red Teddy, but he really FLIPPED when I told him we have a chance to get all five! I too paid WAY too much for my LCB and Gemlinettes, but I wanted them, so I don't see it as money lost. 1. Have the servers been updated so we don't get a repeat of this years problems? I got lucky at GenCon with my order but saw a lot of pain out there.

2. Are these really available in limited quantities? Or is that part of the sales pitch and you're actually going to fill all orders (Sorry for being a cynic but I can't see you turning down $10k's of orders when you can cast some more). Kudos if it is, but saves people feeling ripped if they sit up all night to order and they aren't really limited quantities.

Not that this is official, but in re-reading the e-mail, it states "...you'll be able to pick up in extremely limited quantities...", which I think means that you WILL BE limited to what you can buy, not that they are "running out" of them (as someone else mentioned, they can always make more). So, in typical Wyrd fashion, I think they WILL be taking care of all of us (which is why all my holiday money is going to them). Just keep in mind that if they ARE opening the doors to ALL orders, then shipping might be a bit slow for those that ordered later in the day, so put your patience hat on. Actually, when we say 'limited quantities', we do mean that only X amount are available for sale and I suspect some of the product will be out of stock before the day is over.

For the server issues, we're hoping we won't have repeated issues though I'm sure ya'll will come along and make a liar out of me. Matt is looking to streamline everything as much as possible and put some work in place to help out the server and databases. If need be we'll shut down the forums for a portion of the day if we feel that it will help keep the server loads down so that we don't have a repeat of the first day of Gencon.

The warehouse is is a much better situation now, and while it would be interesting and wonderful, we certainly don't expect the quantities that we received over Gencon (actually, that would be quite impossible, we don't have that much of the limited product available to actually reach those numbers).

For the server issues, we're hoping we won't have repeated issues though I'm sure ya'll will come along and make a liar out of me. Matt is looking to streamline everything as much as possible and put some work in place to help out the server and databases. If need be we'll shut down the forums for a portion of the day if we feel that it will help keep the server loads down so that we don't have a repeat of the first day of Gencon.

The warehouse is is a much better situation now, and while it would be interesting and wonderful, we certainly don't expect the quantities that we received over Gencon (actually, that would be quite impossible, we don't have that much of the limited product available to actually reach those numbers).

Great to get such a candid reply, it's appreciated. Have you guys made a decision about limiting the amount of each model a person can order?

Interpreting this quote, it sounds like they must have a pretty good stock of LCB (I only mention LCB because that seems to be THE ONE in question). They know better than anyone how in demand LCB is. From the demand I am picking up from forums, podcasts, and whatnot, they are going to need at least a few hundred or more to have a chance at making it through the day. Anything less than that and I would think Nathan would more than 'suspect' that they'd run out of stock.

Unless of course he means "suspect" with a wink. In that case they might only have a couple of dozen that'll be gone in minutes.

This is a pretty cool thing that Wyrd is doing (not so surprising though, it seems they care a lot about their player base, which has grown considerably since these models were released.) And this BF Sale has really only been advertised on the forum and in the newsletter, so it is directly targeted for their fanbase, who now won't be paying out the arse if they want these items. So make sure you take that money you save on a pricey auction and buy more Wyrd Miniatures.

We shouldn't have things made available to us that should have always been available and then call it "special". If people want to buy something, you should just sell it. I like the Limited stuff, and like their current marketing strategy. LCB and the Gremlinette are one of the only 2 pieces that really command the aftermarket, as they were released before the next large wave of people jumped onto the Wyrd boat. The NE Justice and Teddy are cool pieces, but don't command the prices aftermarket because...well after Chompy, people learned their lesson.

Take a look at the cost of the Riders, Nekima, the Peacekeeper and other white-metal box kits. Not exactly cheap. Hell they're part of the reason Wyrd went to resin for big things; manufacture & shipping would have put those things at a premium. And they're Minions, not required for a crew.

LCB is a Master. He IS required for a crew. Can you imagine the cost of his starter if only his NE version was available? And the cost to ship it? And given that all Masters have a starter, the space required to store his box on a shelf, compared to the other sets?

As a continuous sale item, NE LCB isn't practical. Awesome, but not practical. Personally, I'm glad we have the chance to pick one up again, but to be honest wouldn't feel too happy seeing THIS version of the model on the LGS shelf.

I personally LIKE the "limited edition" things. Yes I missed out on Dead Justice and Nightmare Teddy this year at Gen Con, but it happens. They also sell them ONLINE for everyone to get while Gen Con is going on. It's not some con exclusive model that is only at the show.

As for the LCB model being horrible right now have you not noticed how many of the masters have been getting alternate sculpts? So far they seem to have targeted the book 1 masters, but I guarantee they will release a new LCB at some point.

At the risk of starting a flame war (and if you think the reply will hurt, please feel free to just PM me), can I ask what these are aside from GenCon minis?

The standard miniatures aren't a problem, they're all available either in starter sets or in blisters. Yes there's a lack of a bitz program for individual minis in blister sets or parts thereof, but that hasn't seemed to stop anyone. The LE items could almost be seen as Master-work modelling projects (case in point being NE teddy compared to 2D teddy), but that's again, almost in its favour as an intro model. Hell, the demo that I did had the guys drooling over said teddy for just that reason. Turelio's paint job didn't hurt admittedly.

As for my logistics comment... sorry but I work as a project manager, I tend to think logisitically nowadays. Hell, we do custom measurement gear where I work, and we still keep stock of basic items up to a certain size for pretty much that reason, so to me it seemed like a logical thing to do.

Anyway back to the sale: would still like some info on whether or not we can get multiples. Not that I'd wanna eBay the thing, but our group all seem to want one and that's at least 3 right there. So it's either 3 postages to Australia or one.

Going by the last check of the top 5 selling wargames, Malifaux was #4 having overtaken WFB. Nathan, Eric and co. must be doing something right to get into the top 5.

Also, GW, Privateer and many other companies have produced a fair number of limited items.

Same what a really nicely painted crew will. But having different text will mean the player who never paint will blow a ton of money on it, and pick it up for the game effect. I'd rather see people who appreciate the art of minis gaming being the only people who get them.

Right now the Miss Demeanour runs for around 25$-30$ on most trade sites & ebay. If the rule was you could have her and the Convicted Gunslinger in play at the same time I'm sure the value would jump to 75$ - 100$, just for the ability. Then those who can afford to pay beat those who want to play for fun. One of the things that make Malifaux like crack is that its not too expensive to pick up something that will change the way you play. Currently only people going after the nightmare models are the ones who want the art of Malifaux.

if you planning on manually putting the catalogue changes up, you should expect the server to have the equivalent of a DOS attack going on at the same time, from impatient customers. If you planing on remoting in for the update, good luck.

I get your cynicism- you mean that wyrd should follow the example of GW and forge world, two of the worlds other main miniature companies...oh thats right, they only release stuff once...period. Weigh a Lord chompy bits....weigh a centurious.... I bet the price relative to size/weight is comparable.

Wyrd don't even have to do what they are doing. I bought a LCB 2 DAYS before the announcement-I could have got real mad. But thats called life. Wyrd already look after customers way more than any other miniatures brand-mispacks, teddies in boxes etc. Sure they may use release waves to limit numbers and create demand- THATS CALLED GOOD MARKETING DUDE. They are randomly assorted in the boxes, so you don't know if you will get one. They are the Miss Pack of the Malifaux Crew Boxes.

That is a very valid point. I'm glad I was able to get my order in before midnight, but if i'd stuck to my original plan of getting back up a little before 12 to buy my LCB and at midnight found them sold out I would be a very unhappy camper. Hope Wyrd has plenty of stock to go around and everyone gets what they want.

Whether or not its intentional its very neat opening a few hours early. It gives the people who frequent their boards a leg up on getting items and lessens the loads on the servers right at midnight.

Except that Miss Pack is an alternate model for Nurses, which are already available for purchase. The only way to get the PW Teddies outside of this sale is through shear luck (especially if one wants all five) or second-hand sales.

You are right, but when this sort of stuff happens on something that doesn't have mass appeal (most hobbies), it grinds my gears as it can shut out a legitimate fan from getting the collectible item at the sale.

I am visiting the family back home so my desktop is over a hundred miles away. I was able to enlist a family computer. While you're here, I got a question. Will the Teddy set be sold at some point later?

I just hope they are sold at a later date myself. I don't own Puppet Wars (beyond the Pawns 2 Booster I won in the twitter contest) but it is in my future buy list. Who knows, Santa might surprise me with it (read, relatives are aware I'm interested in it).

I think because we all expected them to sell out in a heartbeat we're a little "speculative" :) On a side, Kudos to how the server has held out this time, from the store browsing numbers the demand seems to have been quite high but it's running super smooth.

It amazes me how much stuff ends up left around in a warehouse. A single pallet of an order set aside can mean literally hundreds and a pallet all wrapped up can go unnoticed until you do something like clean up the warehouse to move to another...
