I can't think of anywhere better to post this than The Writing Room. So here goes. :)

We have three tremendous publications (so far) with a great running storyline. Every so often we get peeks back through the Breach at Earthside. New Amsterdam never became New York it seems. The Far East is a consolidated empire of mystery and secrecy like imagined in many a Victorian adventure novel. Scotchland? Caledonians?

We get these tantalizing glimpses of the Alternate Earth and I for one can't help but imagine what the rest looks like, how it developed, and how it will evolve/be revealed. What effect does centuries of magic have on religion? Is technology Earthside benefiting from Malifaux innovation or is the reverse true?

Most importantly, what do YOU think Alt-Earth looks like?

While I would love to hear people's thoughts, I ought to point out that a Caledonian is a Scotsman, and the reference to Scotchland is an "amusing" mistake by Mam'selle Vestige (some people think that because the drink is called Scotch, the people are too ;))

Didnt spot that on the first read through Sholto, anymore 'amusing' or Wyrd mistakes?

Speaking of...any chance of seeing more Mam'selle in the future, Sholto?

I certainly hope so! A real estate agent who deals only in haunted houses has a fair bit of scope for interesting plots :)

Mam'selle Vestige is a great character. I didn't realise Scotchland was a "mistake". I remember repeating it aloud and thinking this might be another tweak to the alternate Earth. It IS more amusing with that inside info! I would also love to see more of Mme Vestige. :)

Just in my own little universe, I would love for her to say something in French to Colonel Aries and have him reply something like, "Je ne parle pas francais, dahlin'."

Does Wyrd, and by that I mean the writers collectively - and specifically, as in Mr. Bowen - have an idea of what Europa and the Americas look like?

I'm aiming for Colonel Aries to command the Guild Guard, mold them into killers and fortify them for the coming storm. I think I can contrive a way for him to meet the Mam'selle, say in a raid of some kind. :)

I'm a big fan of the Col. Aries sir and i'd enjoy seeing Vestige in there. I'd be curious if the writers have a vision for Earthside too?

Some questions that have occurred to me as I re-read the rulebooks:

Q: Is magic Earthside also soul-based? Is there blood magic? Elemental? Is aether universal, like The Force? I'm curious if aether is universally the mana for all magic and if aether is all soul-generated. If this is true, then magic has a much more sinister undertone. Like using people for meat.

Q: Where is the Guild based, Earthside? What sort of political influence do they have in the Old World, and over whom? Or is it an autonomous transnational organisation?

New Amsterdam never became New York it seems.

Why they never changed it, I can't say. People still like it better this way?

I would also love to see more of Mme Vestige. :)

I'd like to see her end up filling the role of tour guide to the various districts of Malifaux. Plenty of story hooks she could start with a few sentences about the abandoned factory here or the spooky butcher shop there and so forth.
