Failing to cast a once per activation spell

Hi all,
i just wanted to clear up something about spells that are once per activation.
With perditas obey it says that it can only be cast once per activation. Now if i attempt to cast it but fail, can i make a second attempt to cast as it 'hasnt been cast'.

My gut and rational mind says no. But i just want 100% clarification. Currently i am playing it as no but my opponent doesnt want to effectively do me out of the chance to cast it if i fail. Likewise i dont want to 'beard' it and try if i shouldnt.

Page 53 of the Rules Manual:

F. Caster Determines Success.
• If the caster’s final Duel total (the casting total) is equal to or greater than the CC, includes at least one of each suit in the TN, and the caster has met any additional requirements for the Spell, the caster has won the Duel and has successfully cast the Spell. (Success)
• Otherwise, the caster has lost the Duel and the Spell is not cast. If the Spell can be cast a limited number of times, this attempt does not count toward that limit (Failure)

Follow up question WEiRD sKeTCH, does this apply only to spells? For example Seamus' .50 Flintlock says it may only be used once per turn. Extrapolating from what you said in regards to spells above does that basically mean may only be used successfully once per turn, or are strike actions with weapons written with a totally a different intent? if you fire and miss with Seamus' gun are you out of luck while if Perdita tries to Obey you and fails she can try again?

Spells and strikes are different. Spells have the minimum casting target number, or they just plain fail. A missed shot is still a shot.

So basically, yes - strikes and spells are different in that.

Thanks for the answer sketch. I think i was oing text blind after 2 35ss games and still slighty warped from the championship party saturday lol.
