Obeying Cherub and magical extension

Sorry if this was discussed, I did a search and found quite a lot of talk about companions and magical extension but not exactly this question which came up in a game yesterday.

If I successfully cast Obey on an enemy Cherub, can I then use Cherub's magical extension to cast one of Lillith's (1) spells?

The uncertainty comes from the wording of magical extension, which says "connected master" but not "connected friendly master. Since the Cherub would no longer be friendly to Lillith for the duration of Obey, does that connection break?

I believe the answer is yes but you would burn an ss from your pool if you wanted to cheat.
