I'm sure this must have been asked before but my search didn't turn anything up - how does the resist flip for suppressive fire work (convict gunslinger)?

Is it like a pulse and every model within 3" makes a resist duel, or given it's explicitly NOT a pulse does only the target make the duel and it auto affects all models in 3"?

RAW seem to be the second option, but I'd guess RAI it's the first. But as I'm often wrong I thought I'd ask :D

Interesting... I've always read/played it as if they all have to make a resist since they are all being effected by it. I think the wording probably could be a bit clearer if it was making all of them resist.... but that first part: "Target model and all models within 3" of the target.." to me defines who it targets an thus they all have to make a resist since the targets/all models effected by a spell make a Resist Flip normally.

But really... not sure heh. Need a Marshal for this I think.

We play it that it is a shooting attack with a single target who gets to Resist the spell. If the spell is not Resisted, then you move onto the effects of the spell, which are that "the target model and all models within 3"" are affected.

My group have played it that way since we started, FWIW.

That's what I think it should be (especially as you could target a low WP minion and get the effect onto Master etc without a flip), but I think the rules show only the first model is the target and therefore resists, then it auto affects models around it.

Like Sholto says, you cast the spell, it gets resisted and then you apply its effects. As there's no blast marker (as with say Project Emotions) the only model to resist is the target.

Hmmm..... we could really do with a RM if there's one reading here.

p53 of the RM, second paragraph under Resist Duels: All potentially affected models get a resist flip. Also very important for the likes of Saemus (Undead Psychosis) and the Rotten Belle (Slow spell, can't remember the name).

as outlined on pg 53.

When a spell could affect multiple models, all potentially affected models perform resist duels.

Cool, thought so. Thanks for clearing that up Goblyn (and a hat tip to Headcase ;))
