(0) Stalwart: Friendly constructs within 2" of the Guardian gain armor +2. This model suffers 1 wd each time affected model suffers damage.
Can the guardian use this ability and then the friendly construct leaves the area and keeps the benefit (ie. like a pulse)?
Or do they have to stay within 2" (ie like an aura)?
Does he also affect self?

Oooh, good question. I had been meaning to ask this one myself. I wish they had just used the :pulse or :aura symbols with this ability instead to make it clear.

It's an effect on the Guardian. This means it only affect models while they are within 2" of the Guardian.
A http://wyrd-games.net/forum/../images/smilies/Pulse.gif or http://wyrd-games.net/forum/../images/smilies/Aura.gif would indicate that the effect is on the models in the area, either at the time of casting (pulse) or as long as they are in range (for the aura).

Right. And the way you stated it in the first paragraph would be an Aura. So, the question is sort of: why didn't they use the Aura symbol in the first place then, and whether there's a specific reason the Aura (or Pulse) symbol wasn't used.

I think the aura wasn't used because then you couldn't activate it near Hoffman

My first interpretation of Stalwart was that it was to be treated like a pulse but reading it again and reading the posts here it makes more sense to me that it would be like an aura. So in response to the OP's question, i would say that the friendly constructs would have to stay within the 2" to gain the effect.
"Does he also affect self?"
I would say yes since its not an aura or a pulse and he is in fact a friendly construct within 2" of himself.
