Yellow Teeth: Models damaged by this Weapon gain one Blight Counter.

The Oldest of Magics: This model is immune to Wd it suffers unless they are inflicted by spells, magical weapons, or Focused Strikes. This ability cannot be negated or removed by any means.

Question: If a Malifaux Rat makes a Yellow Teeth Strike against Jack Daw and applies no Wd, would he still be considered Damaged and therefore receive a Blight Counter?

Looks right to me I see no reason he would not get a blight counter.

I see what you're getting at (damage vs wounds) but I have to disagree with Tadaka on this one - if he takes no damage he hasn't been damaged so I'd have to argue he wouldn't get a blight counter.

If he took the wound and then discarded a soulstone to ignore it he would take the blight counter (see http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20524) but I think this is differnet as he is immune to the wounds from the rats

That was the way I was seeing it as well.

I suppose it's just a lack of clarity on the Wd versus Dg on our part, unfortunately.

the way I see it: Yellow Teeth does 2 Damage, he has been damaged. Apply Blight. He now takes Zero Wounds from Damage. No Soulstone or Control Card required.

In that thread http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20524 (http://www.wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20524)) rules martial ruled that you would get overpower as you have damaged him. This looks the be the same issue just different models.

No, thats what I thought at first. :D

This thread is about being immune to wounds from certain sources (i.e. the wound never happen), that thread is about being able to discard a soulstone to ignore wounds that come from legit sources (i.e. wounds happen but are ignored). Very different

Keep in mind that raspy's damage is a spell, the rats damage is not. Also I believe rats are slow so you couldn't bypass this with a focused strike.

Yeah, I'm thinking that he would not get a Blight Counter.

Gotta remember, the word 'damage' does not always equal 'Dg'. In most cases, for triggers and weapon special abilities, when they say "a model damaged by this...", it's refering to final Wds, not the initial Dg total.

For instance, the precedent I keep thinking about is that if you hit a Master with a Rat, and it spends a Soulstone and ends up preventing all of the Wds, then it wouldn't take a Blight Counter either. Same thing if you flip the Black Joker on the damage flip.

Jack Daw is immune to wounds unless they come from a focused strike, Spell or Magical Weapon. So a Malifaux Rat would have to perform a focused strike with Yellow Teeth to put a blight counter on Jack Daw.

Just to clarify, that's right but rats can't do focused strikes out of the box as they're slow. You'd have to hire a student of conflict to give one fast - which you'd never ever do :D

;) I was just trying to keep to the general rule.. but you are right you would have to give the rat fast to do a focused strike, and I can't see that happening.
