Adding a blast effect

What happens if you have to add a blast to weak damage? I think the Pigapult can do this if I'm reading things right...it's just an add a + blast effect to damage. But what do you do with a weak damage blast? Does it do nothing because the step below weak is...nothing?

Assumingly so.

It's not mentioned in the rules and I believe the Pigapult is the only thing for which it is even possible.
