View Full Version : Femme Fatale II Galleries Up!

The time for entry submission is over and now we move forward with the viewing and voting for the Femme Fatale II Wyrd Painting Contest.
Entries have been edited, placed in their proper categories and are now up for you to view and leave comments on.
The galleries will be up a full day before opening the polls so that if there are any mistakes or discrepancies, you can let us know before the voting begins. Hopefully there are none, but if you see something that needs to be rectified or if you have a question upon, please contact me privately.
When 24 hours has passed, we'll place the voting polls up and you will be able to vote for your favorite three in their respective categories. Keep in mind, in order to vote and/or comment in the galleries, you MUST have a user account here on Wyrd.
When leaving comments in the galleries, please remember to be constructive in any critique, good or bad, and remember your manners. Everything has been set to moderation which means your comments will be viewed by a moderator or myself before being approved for the general public viewing. When you post a comment, it will appear as nothing has happened, only showing you back to the gallery again - rest assured that your comments have been posted and are only awaiting approval.
When the polls are placed, they will be open for seven days. In that time, please take a moment to vote for your favorite three in each category. The top three in each category will win, respectively 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place. Best of Show and Best Base or Diorama naturally only have one winner.
In order to encourage participation in the voting and commenting on the galleries, we will choose five RANDOM SCHMUCKS to win prizes for voting on all the categories and commenting on atleast HALF of the entries. I'll choose out two COMPLETELY WYRD SCHMUCKS from those that take the time to comment on ever entry in the galleries and send random prizes out as well.
Lastly, I would like to say thank you once again to our contest sponsors. All of them have been very generous with their time, product, support and encouragement and it is very well appreciated. Please take a moment to contact them and let them know your appreciation if you enjoy these contests.

Whee! Screw work... off to look! :D
*pause for gallery browsing*
Just a suggestion, but for future contests, maybe label single digit entries as "01", "02", etc. I get kinda confused as to which entry I'm looking at with the single digit labeled ones scattered amongst the double digit ones.
Or maybe I'm just easy to confuse, :dizzy: possibly.. ;)

Attention people who comment and say the photos are tiny!!!
Click on them! That opens up a new window with larger photos!

Yep some great works there! And I spotted a few which I recognise as well. :)

@Ritual (or anyone else I guess :) ): Is there an option that we can set to always show the images at full size? I believe that the forum formerly worked that way?
- Thanks!
Also I think I'm being dense, but I can see in the index view that there are comments, but when I look at the images I don't see comments. Is it because they aren't approved yet or is there something I need to click that I'm not seeing?

not approved yet
fixing the numbers later
click on pictures to get bigger ones
no, not making them bigger automagically as otherwise it throws the layout of the whole site out if you do it for some of those pictures which are huge

Is it because they aren't approved yet or is there something I need to click that I'm not seeing?
I've already read the comments on my entries since, when I uploaded them, the option "Want to be notified by email when users post replies?" which is default at "no", I changed to "yes". So I've already read my comments as they've automatically been emailed to me. ;) Sneaky, aren't I?
:D

I could fix it so that e-mails aren't sent but figured to heck with it, everyone is mature here and I have taken the moderation off the posts so that comments go directly though. If someone decides to be nasty and you see a post that should be reported, just hit the http://wyrd-games.net/photopost/images/report.gif button and it'll be reported to a moderator and we'll take care of it.
Numbers for the 1-9 pictures have been updated to 01-09 so that everything flows properly now.

This is by far the highest standard contest ever had on this site I feel. Simply amazing pieces. Hardest to judge for myself would be the simply scandalous category. It's all filled with neekid chicks with lovely skin, and they all do funny stuff to my eyes.

You can also see recent comments before they're ok-ed by looking in the "Recent comments" box on the gallery front page! ;)

Psssst! Hey Anders!
... and I have taken the moderation off the posts so that comments go directly though.
And I agree that 99.9% of the comments don't need moderation anyway. Of those I got before the mod delay was lifted were thoughtful and constructive.
And I agree with SC too, that there a LOT of great entries, it's going to be hard to pick only three from each catagory. Maybe we can add an "honorable mention" spot just to make FF's life harder. ;) (don't shoot me, Nathan!)

I can't make everyone happy about that, sorry. :)
The other option would for me to down grade the size on these pretty decently, but then everyone would bark at me that the pictures are too small or too constricting. Having a box where you can click on it and it opens in another window for a quick pop up seems like a nice alternative which lets ya'll eyeball it at a larger size and then close it easily enough without having to hit the back button or anything else.
Also, Alternative Entry 2 has a proper picture now for those of you hollering that it was too small. Was a software issue somewhere with it which I've muddled with and is working just fine now.

Well, I'm currently working my way through the last category that I need to leave comments in. Well, Nathan, it's a good thing you turned the moderation off since there's 1150+ comments already, that would've been a heck of alot of reading and approving.
But as soon as I'm done, I'm off to vote! Has anyone else voted yet? Is the system different from last time when you could see the results before the polls closed?
and @ gi6ers - No I didn't like your comments! Your monkey was shaking his head at me the whole time!

Ok... So I THINK I got my votes in ok, Is the order you tick the boxes determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd etc? A green tick by itself in the box isn't very informative!!!!
I also right badly cocked up my votes for best of show as well, thinking I was voting on best base!!! Would one of the Mods be able to cancel out my best of show votes so I could do it again please? Usually I would put this down to being pretty thick and take the ridicule, but as this is probably the most important voting category I really want to give the people I think deserve recognition the votes.
also commented on all the entries, took me three sittings and an angry wifey (hey, could I enter her for FF3? !!) but I did it!!!

Got all my commenting done and all my voting done! Whew, it certainly wasn't easy picking only three per category. And I like not being able to see the results yet, it adds to the tension. Can't wait to see the results!
Thanks to everybody who entered! :star:

I won't have time to do any comments, so I skip it all together in the sake of fairness... I might post a few comments here and there when it's all over.
But, yeah, this was a great competition! Not the biggest (in terms of entries), but not too bad either, and definitely the highest standard yet!

That took some time, commenting and voting on every entry! My post-count rose by almost 50% ... lol
Some categories had clear cut winners in my eyes, some others are very close.

Mines the same lauth81, post count is decent now.
Has taken me 3 days of ducking and diving on my pc at work to post on every entry. Nightmare! Voted on all as well, some lovely models. Hope none of these bods are entering in the up and coming Iron Painter!
Cant wait for that bad boy theme to get unveiled today.

At least he wasn't touching himself and smiling....
Considering some of my entries, I would've taken that as a positive sign!
I should've taken longer with my commenting and voting, because now it's just wait, wait, wait until the polls close on Monday (forever from now it feels like!), then even longer until FF gets all the results written up in an orderly manner.
Gah!

lots of models to vote on and to comment:ahhhhh: ;)
as for me I'm proud I managed to put a vote under every entry (IIRC) but I don't think I commented even half of that beauties...
anyway kudos to the forum's admin, mods, sponsors and all guys + gals involved for organising such a great event!

I finished commenting on all of the entries. That was a lot of entries!
Some really nice stuff in this contest. I found it difficult to pick just three to vote for in a few categories.

Just a heads up for the few folks that get a tickle out of voting more than three in the contest (several folks decided to vote for all of them), you've just been moderated, next time about its banned.
Voting will be completed tomorrow folks so if you plan on voting and commented, get too it. In the mean time, when everything is over, I'll have some editing to do due to the mental midgets so it may be a day before all the polls and announcements are made.
Whew, finally made it through on all the commenting. After much deliberation, I've also cast votes. Thanks for doing a reminder FF.

I was browsing through the galleries to have another look at some of the beauties in the various sections when I noticed some pretty Wyrd scores on some of the entries. Just when you thought sniping occurs only on CMON, it's finding its way here as well. :AR15firin:boom:
Nathan Caroland
03-05-2007, 02:47 AM
Yeah, I noticed that as well. I can actually turn that off, or more to the point, make it viewable what everyone voted, comment or not if that would be preferred. That way folks casting their score would have to own up to it at the bare minimum.
As for the snipping overall - looking at it, I think a lot of it came from the mental midgets that decided to try and screw with the voting poll (which, subsequently, two of them have been banned now).
Duende
03-05-2007, 02:20 PM
I don't know if anyone noticed, but the polls should all be closed now.
All that's left to wait for now are the official tallies and results!

you should just mention that all votes are reviewed and any tampering will result in banning...and make it in a big font, haha. That should slow it...and mention you're banning IP addresses, not usernames :D

Why spoil the fun - honestly I would rather the stupid make themselves known so its a simple way to weed them out.
That being said, I'll mess with the voting and the like in the next day or so and get the results up as quickly as possible.

The names of the submitters are all out now. Now I know who painted my 2 favorites of this contest!
Thanks for noticing that Stupidcow, it was good to satisfy my curiosity. I'm getting to be better at spotting people's styles, I think. Pretty much all the ones I ventured a guess on I was correct (not like I wrote these prognostications down so any of you can call me on that statement or anything. ;->). Cindy as the painter of Libby and tiger surprised me though. And interesting to see some impressively prolific entrants!

03-07-2007, 03:38 AM
Cool to see all names next to the models! Most of the Wyrdlings I could spot, but some were a surprise.
I don't know why, but all entries had the following avatar next to the model as it was uploaded by the moderator:
http://wyrd-games.net/images/avatars/Icon.jpg
Except for r2-j1's entry...which had his own picture:
http://wyrd-games.net//image.php?u=182
Now I also thought it was his entry because of the painting style, but it really gave him away. Now it wasn't his fault, so I didn't want to bring it up during the contest (and it also didn't affect my judgement whatsoever :)).

Actually that was caught on the first day in the first three hours, if it was still showing there for you, it was because your cache wasn't clearing at all.
Myself, I've got mine to clear everyday, thus I didn't notice it after the change, but fair enough and if anyone did realize who the entry was from, was completely my fault.
Malebolgia
03-07-2007, 04:03 AM
I suspected it was some software problem and not some evil scheme from r2-j1 so therefore I didn't report it. Good to know it was cleared within 3 hours :)
