On page 53. point D. states that additional reuirements must be met at this point.

My question is: does this must mean you have to spend the requirements regardless of the result of the final duel result?

For example does Colette need to discard SS when she fails to meet the number to successfully cast the spell?

It seems that there are two types of requirements, appearing in point 1. and 2.D, p52 and p53.
The requirements in 2.D are relating to 'the first sentence written in the spell description'. Now in my understanding, at this point you only follow the additional requirements if you want the spell to be cast successfully (since 2.D happens after you have flipped for the casting duel); if you failed your duel there is no need to spend the additional cost of ss/Wd/sacrificing model etc... so Colette will only discard if the casting duel is successful (note that if the spell is resisted successfully she still has to spend those ss).
I'm not sure what the additional requirements of 1. refere to, ie where they would show up, in the text since they do not refere to that first sentence; it'd be nice if someone could give an exemple of such a spell?

EDIT: as per your other thread, requirements 1. refere to the targetting as confirmed by Keltheos.

So if a spell description starts with the sentance
"Discard <number> <object type>"
e.g "Discard 1 soulstone", or "Discard 2 Blood Counters"

That is fulfilled in step 2D on page 53 (interestingly that step doesn't exist in the casting sequence page 51or page 123). But you can choose to not discard and auto-fail if the cards didn't do what you wanted in step 2C?

Is this correct?

Yes correct (well, to my understanding :) )

Agreed - the sequence of events requires you to meet AR casting requirements after the final Casting total is determined, so you could choose not to meet those requirements (eg. not to discard a soulstone) and the spell would fail at that point (Step D), rather than failing at Step F.
