View Full Version : When does an activation end/another paralyze questions

Hopefully this hasn't been asked before, because I searched, there's just like 100 threads on paralyze right now.

Anyway, if you receive paralyze during your activation after using your last AP what happens? Nothing? Or are you then gaining paralyze outside of your activation, so you would forfeit it next time around?

Specifically, this is in regards to the Stolen's Horrible Realization, and your model failing the WP duel after using it's last AP to kill the Stolen.

nothing. you lose all remaining AP. your remaining AP just happens to be 0

@Hookers: Not necessarily. I've seen a past ruling where if you receive Slow after spending your last AP then Slow carries over to your next activation.

I don't think the Activation is over until you say they are done. The reason being some models have Abilities which do not cost them any Ap but could be used after the fact, and then there is (0) actions which you do not actually get AP for, you just get the ability to use 1 per turn.

Specifically for Horrible Realizations I think it would work like this...

You attack, deal Wounds and say get the kill on it.
Now because this effect on the Stolen happens when it is killed, it interrupts the Strike action (even though there may be nothing left to do during it, there could be. Like say a Trigger that happens when a model is removed from the board.) and Paralyzes the attacking model.
Now anything that remains for that Strike action resolves.
No more AP or abilities etc to use, player declares end of activation for the model.
Because it happened during his activation, Paralyze goes away.

So I think that is how it happens... it will technically happen during the attackers Activation even if it is their last Ap. But really need a Marshal to confirm this one either way as this is a slightly gray area from what I can tell.

if a model gains paralyze during your activation, it loses all remaining actions and its activation immediately ends ends.

Proof is on page 34 of the Rules Manual.

So horrible realisation can only ever cause an activation to end - it can never cause paralysed to carry over?

Well... it will never carry over it seems if the Activating model kills it. But if a none-activating model kills it (say through Smell Fear Charge by Teddy, or a passive AE like Alps etc) then it would carry over.

But again, need a Marshal to confirm this is the functional intent as it is a bit gray.

slow is worded differently.

with how paralyzed was explained, the only change was how it affects models receiving paralyzed during their activation. this is the only logical explanation or else there was no need to change the wording for paralyze.
