View Full Version : Can Hamelin pick up an "in play" card?

Okay, this is something we're dubious about the intent, I'll start with an example -
Hamelin is in a duel with another model. Hamelin is losing so he cheats fate and puts down a 10 (for example). His opponent then cheats fate. Hamelin can now take a card from his deck or discard pile.
The question is, can he pick up the 10 he's just played? When you cheat fate does the card go on top of your discard pile or is it in some sort of limbo until the resolution of the duel (at which point all cards go to the discard pile)
Thanks everyone :)

My understanding is that cards 'in play' are not on the discard pile until that duel is resolved. So, like the attack flips, and then the damage flips as well, would all be set in an 'in play' area, and not moved to the discard pile until the duel is fully resolved.
This also has implications for things like Zoraida's Bayou Two Card ability. I would also like to know what other people think though.

What LoboStele says
All cards used in a duel make their way to the discard pile at the same time, until then they are in play as a game event.
They are then moved to the discard pile in the order of use.

Eh.. No you have to wait untill the duel is completely resolved before the cards are moved to the discard pile..
Page 24-25 of the manual for reference.

cards that are "in play" are neither in the deck nor in the discard pile. Cards do not enter the discard pile until after the duel is resolved.
Rules manual pg 24 (cheating Fate): The played Control Card becomes the new Fate Card, and is placed on top of the previous Fate Card until the event is resolved.
Rules manual pg 25: After a game event in which a player used Cards is completed, immediately move those card to that player's discard pile face up ...
