I'm a bit puzzled by the change to the Strike Duel in the new Rules Manual as it differs from all other opposed Duels.

Is it intentional that only the looser of the Starting Flip is allowed to Cheat Fate?

I may be reading the manual wrong, but doesn't it say that when cheating fate, start with the losing model, then when both models have had a chance to cheat fate, continue with final totals?

That's right

That i am aware of.
But re-reading page 43 (although i only have access to the PDF)
The option Cheat Fate States "The loosing model may replace..."
instead of Page 28, Opposed Duel "The model may replace..."

And it in both cases it is " after both models have had an opportunity to change their starting totals" not "chance to cheat fate"

Interesting, but I'm 100% it's an oversight and that it shouldn't have said 'losing'.

Otherwise the text before doesn't make sense, "Starting with the losing model each model may use either or both..". The winning model would never be able to cheat fate then.

Huh, I hadn't noticed that difference (pages are the same on the PDF and paper rulebook, v. helpful Wyrd^^). While I'd agree it's probably an oversight, one could always argue that once the original losing model cheated, the other model is now most likely 'losing' and can now cheat fate anyway:-)

Jep... but that still makes a difference... the looser just have to lay an card to equal the striketotal.. so there ist no looser anymore... so the attacker will get an dubble negative and can not do anything against it, because he is not loosing.

"Losing" should not be in there.

The sentence should read:
"Cheat Fate: The model may replace the flipped Fate Card with a Control Card from its Control Hand."

Okay, Player A flips a total greater than Player B. Player B is the loser.
Player B cheats fate. Player B's total is greater than Player A's total.
Player A is now the loser.
Player A cheats fate to win the duel.
Both players have cheated, so they can't cheat any further.

At least... that was my reading of it... until Sketch told us they had too many words.... :D

You're reading it right...in a casual way. For some folks they're reading it more specifically.

There's no discrete 'check loser status' between the starting totals step and the final totals step, so technically if you want to dig into it the winner/loser status of the two models has yet to change. ;)
