Rusty Alyce and Impressionable

Hi folks,


This came up there earlier in a discussion about Ramos and Rusty Alyce, and the impressionable rule.

basically, the impressionable rule from the pdfs says the following:

Impressionable: At the start of the game, nominate 1 Master with Scavenger in this model’s Crew. This model can use the Master’s Ca or its own when casing spells. This model gains all of the Master’s abilities affecting its Ca.


I am under the assumption that since triggers are abilities, she would gain Ramos' surge trigger when using Ramos' Ca.

Is this correct, or am I going off halfcocked?

Also, on a related note, Is Use Soulstones an ability that affects the Ca stat at all? :D

Triggers are abilities, but they are not abilities affecting a models Ca. They are actually affect by the models Ca (if they are Ca based), so really it is the other way around. Plus Triggers happen off the duel and are not directly affecting the Ca unlike Dual Focus which directly affects the Ca stat of the relevant model.

The reason that wording is there is for Leveticus's Dual Focus so that she can make use of it.

To your second point, Use Soulstone is not an ability affecting the Ca. Use Soulstone has a variety of effects including generating a specific type of flip (healing flip) and modifying other flips (use SS on duels etc).

Both Abilities and Triggers are Talents, but neither is a subcategory of the other.

Blah fine Talents then, knew it was one of the two terms just mixed them up.

But this serves even more of a reason then! Since Triggers aren't abilities you can just stop right there, Impressionable is satisfied right there.
