View Full Version : Question about Swine Dash

I waited for the new cards and the new Rules Manual, and I searched the forums (including my previous posts!), and I still have questions on how Pigcharge and Swine Dash work. I understand the rules until the pig reaches its target. Moving beyond the target is still fuzzy.

For reference, Swine Dash says, "...This model must Push its full Cg directly toward the target, and may go beyond the target...."

Questions:

Must the pig continue moving beyond the target?
If the pig moves beyond the target, must the pig continue moving only in a straight line?
If the pig moves beyond the target, must the pig move its full Cg distance?

Consider the rule that says, "A model that is forced to move directly toward a model moves as far as the effect requires in a straight line."

For what it's worth, Pigcharge says: "Push this model up to it Cg. This model may interrupt the push to make 1 Gore Strike.... Continue the Push after resolving the attack."

I say triple yes.
Choose target, move a 10" straight line towards (and beyond) the target, make an attack. Pretty simple.
The pig charge is different because its voluntary, move and attack as you like, the swine dash is a must without much options.

1.) I believe "Yes". I think the "may go beyond the target" is not giving the option to the player to choose if they want to move beyond the target or not, but rather it is overriding the basic game rules that you disallow you from moving through models. If the intent had been to give that option to the controlling player, it likely would read something more akin to "May choose to go beyond the target", etc.

2.) Yes, because it is the same Push movement, it was simply interrupted. And I'd argue that the entire Push must follow the straight line dictated by the "directly towards" condition. You push directly towards the target, interrupt it for the Strike, and then continue the same push along the same line up to your Cg value.

3.) If it is able to do so, yes. If it contacts and Impassable object (other than models, because I believe Swine Dash allows you to move through them...or maybe it's just the target model?) it stops. Otherwise it keeps on truckin'.

Awesome. Thanks, guys. I'm glad two people offered consistent interpretations. I'm gonna run with it. Cheers!
