View Full Version : Concept Art preview of upcoming releases ...
Nathan Caroland

We've got some new releases coming up in the next week or so and we've decided to preview a bit of the artwork on which the sculpts were based. For these releases we've brought on the talented Paul Muller and Gael Goumon who have done fantastic work and of whom you'll be seeing quite a bit more of their work in the near future.
For February releases we have; Nicodem - The Undertaker, Mortimer - The Gravedigger, three Samurai-Punk Zombies, Rasputina - The Ice Witch and her small but rather mean familiar.
Look on further into this thread for the concept art!

I'm really looking forward to some of these. If they're anything like the artwork, they'll be outstanding.

Oh, sometimes this week I expect, though they'll be rough green pictures, not the usual snazzied up ones we try to put together.

I'm guessing the top 3 will be Mr Muller's work. Great!

You'll have photos of assembled and primed minis, though not painted. Those will come during the following weeks. I'm going to put Nicodem and Mortimer together and prime them tonight!

And I just agreed, under much protest, with the other half not to buy anymore minis until I finish painting some of the ones I already had to have.

I prefer the grave digger to any of the others, as you probably know by now I like my minis to have character and he screams off the page! Good work again Wyrd.

They look great, but why doesn't Rasputina's familiar have a name? Everybody names their pets even if they are weird-looking little dogs (I mean, geez, look how many people have those!)
OK, studio painters, get to work! *cracks whip* Concepts are good, greens are great, but seeing completeted paintjobs of cool new minis are the best! *nudge, nudge, NUDGE!*

Undertaker Green. Not the absolute finished product here obviously but close. Additional chain on the other side of his hip and the gun is now optional so that you can include it or not to give it the right feel for whatever you may wish to use it for. Five pieces, body and both arms separate at the shoulders, vultures head (to accomodate casting) and optional holstered pistol.

Ok, when I said these were going to be "must haves" I was basing that opinion off of the concept art...
Now that I've seen some greens, that opinion has increased 100-fold. It's going to be a long, hard wait until I can get my hands on these... and then until I can paint again.

the shovel doesn't seem particularly large to me, I've seen some big shovels!
I think he's referring to the length of the shovel. If the digger were to put his foot on the footstop of the blade he would have to reach up to grab the handle, which makes for very difficult hole digging.
Duende

This weekend, mid next week .. somewhere in there. Trying to give the painters time to play with them as well as do some primered photo pictures (actually, lets just give credit where it is due, Anders is bearing this load).
I've also got a ton of stuff to go through before putting them up in the store anyhow so its not the painters but myself who is slowing them down before releasing them. Going through casts, doing some write ups on stuff behind the scenes, etc.

I've sent you (primed) photos of one, as you know, and I've got the Gravedigger primed and photographed (and I even started painting him... :)) and I'll fix up the photos of him soon. The zombies will be cleaned and assembled ASAP so after the weekend for sure you will have everything you need from me, and perhaps even a fully painted Mortimer (can't promise that for sure, though...).

Love the zombie minions. I really really like them... which is very rare for me for zombies. I wouldn't know which one is my favorite... they are all 3 great. And you get bonuspoints for not adding severed bodypart assesories or intestines spilling all over the place. Means i don't have to convert and have thes 3 guys on my wishlist.

I would assume Paul has used ProCreate on these, but ask Paul if you want to make sure. His user name here is "Baron M" so you can PM him and ask.

Ritual

ProCreate is supposed to be a bit like green stuff but more easy to work with. I've got some here, but have yet to try it out.
If you're rusty, then perhaps you only paint twice as well as I! :)
EricJ
02-23-2007, 04:42 PM
I've played a little with pro-create, and while my opinion isn't as valid as someone who can actually sculpt, I like the stuff, easier to use than greenstuff I think!
And Welcome! I've always loved your painting, it'd be great to see you try some wyrd minis :)

Not everything will be painted, but eventually we'll be updating the pictures as we get there. This time around likely the only ones painted on 'release' will be Rasputina and her familiar as well as Mortimer the Gravedigger with the others to follow soon.
